But by applying to Harvard, you automatically lower your chances at Princeton because of you are rarely double accepted at two Ivies (at least that's what I've heard)...unless you're an underpriviliged minority.

double ivy acceptance is hard because acceptance is hard. harvard wants to steal princeton kids and vice versa - they don't get together and say, oh you took this kid, so we'll take this one instead.

"by applying to Harvard, you automatically lower your chances at Princeton"

totally wrong. they are two independent factors colleges don't know where else an applicant is applying. just think about it in terms of practicality. each adcom rep would have to call all 7 other ivies to ask about each and every applicant who is stellar (which will be a good portion of the applicant pool). esp for ED, where they are crunched for time. just doesnt make sense

Hey guys, I'm thinking I might add Rice U to my list. What do you guys think? Is it a good addition? Here's my list copied from last page:

Cornell (not really a "back-up", but it's on there)
Oberlin
University of Rochester
SUNY Geneseo (I might not bother applying. If this was the only school I got into, I'd probably leave the country anyway.)

My most likely majors are either music theory or math.

Right now my list looks a little match/safety heavy. I dunno. Thoughts?

Clendenenator, I think I'm going to go for Rice too:

Rice
Wash U in St. Louis (though I don't really want to go there)
Johns Hopkins (terrible food though)
Williams
Georgetown (???)

and Kentucky (full ride, etc.) as my ultimate backup.

yea same here....aplyin to rice too.... Yeah if your want to study math, science, engineering type course, i think rice would be good for you...
