Hey, sickofflorida, since I'm 98% sure you're a Florida resident, I must ask--did you apply to the University of South Florida's accelerated medical program? If so, what can you tell me about it? I applied on a whim, and I got in, and I have no idea what to do. I'm not a resident, and I'd like to know more.

Is it really a guaranteed spot? If so, why does it say I have to have an interview my first year?

If anyone else can answer my questions, please reply, too. Give me your opinions, too.

Oh, and if you're a non-Florida resident and applied and got in, are you going, and why/ why not?

Please help! Thanks!

This site should be helpful. As you know, I am sick of Florida. As a result, I did not apply anywhere in Florida. I think you should compare the residency placements of USF and the other medical schools you got into. Go to the medical school which has the best reputation, so you can get a good residency. Good luck, if you can't make up your mind, send in the deposits for multiple combined degree programs. That way you have several options and security.

Thank you, sickofflorida. This was very helpful. I still am deciding, but I'll be able to use your information in order to weigh my options.

Anyone else have any info? Any out-of-staters apply to this program?

peachy......wait....ur not a florida resident and you got in? The eligibility requirements say that you have to be a florida resident to apply?

Yeah..that sounds kind of fishy...

I was told by the dean, Stuart Silverman, that this was the first year that they were accepting non-Florida residents. He said that they had not updated the website with the information. As far as I know, they still have not updated the website. I agree, that does sound a little fishy, but I met the dean personally.

What's really odd though, is that they gave me a spot and I never had an interview. Like I said before, they told me that the interview would come during the first year of undergraduate. I'm uncertain as to whether this spot is truly guaranteed if I make the minimum GPA and MCAT requirements. Can you posters help me?

wait there's an interview during the first year? I dunno, if you got into another program, I would just skip this one.

I agree with FoodisGood. Why have uncertainty? You should first check with USF about the interview thing. I don't think USF medical school is even ranked.

Regardless, send in multiple deposits in case you change your mind the last moment.

Thanks for all who replied. I'm going to go to Drexel.
