I am going to take some hard classes next year (hello, organic chemistry) so I am looking for some easy A's to take next year (I will be a sophomore). I am looking at Grimm's Fairy Tales (did anyone take it/is it easy?). Any recommendations?

As a Physics grad, I had the same concern & strategy.

Ancient history, but when I was there I took classes where I had a personal interest. I was a Y camp counselor, so I took Psych 101 and then Child Psych – both were easy and (for lack of a better term) familiar to me from my Y camp experience. Both were good classes and “easy” A’s for me.

Don’t trust the course catalog. One semester, I tried to pick an easy A by taking a Speech Communication class that addressed (according to the catalog) “societal communication evolution traced through the growth of Rock and Roll” or something like that. (“Whoa, dude! A class where we listen to music!”)

Then on Day 1, we were handed the details: 15 book reading list with weekly quiz on each, 3 exams, a final, and a term paper. It was a brutal B, not an easy A. (Good books, though.)

I heard the Grimm’s Fairy Tales was an easy class. Also, ATMS 120, CLCV 114/115, ACE 161 (with Lo), SHS 120…a few off the top of my head I can think of.

Zen was pretty chill. A lot of asian culture classes are really easy and also interesting. Also, there are some architecture classes available to everyone which are really really fun. You get to draw, use CAD to design your dream house, and everyone gets an A. You could also look at some of the culinary arts classes at UIUC.
