I read through this list, and it made me think: wow. You know how they've always told us that whatever happens, happens for the best; that all the work we've put in will get us into a great school, even if it's not what we had originally planned/hoped for. Well, I am looking at this list, and - who knew?!? - they were right! These are all top schools of the nation, Ivy or not.

My love affair with Princeton has lasted for nearly for years. I distinctly remember that day in 8th grade when I printed off their undergraduate prospectus and read through it in awe. And I remember the day I signed up to take all AP classes my junior year, thinking that Princeton was worth it all. This summer, I started off with a college list of 50, and Princeton had always remained my number one.

I remember a different day later in August, when I briefly came upon a website of another university, gasped, and thought, just for a moment, that I might have been mistaken all these years, that Princeton might indeed not be the greatest there is. Instantly, of course, I felt guilty and told myself that I can never cheat on my beloved Prince.

Ironically, I laughed out loud when I read Princeton's polite rejection a few days ago. Because that school I found - the school that decided it liked me as much as I liked it - has now inspired and captivated me more than Princeton ever could, and I was grateful that Princeton got out of my way. So, shush, you with your Yales, your Browns, your Amhersts. These magnificent places will never be inferior to Princeton, and frankly, they deserve a lot more excitement than you are giving them. Please realize how lucky you are, how many people would kill to be in your shoes! Go crazy in your school's online store, meet all your future classmates on Facebook, plan campus visits three months in advance! Because HECK YEAH they are going to make us happy! Forget regret: get ready for the best four years of your lives.
