For the summer part in the supplement, are you supposed to write a whole essay?

2500 characters is a ton of space...

Just write as much as you feel necessary. Mine wound up being 2000 characters without spaces, 2400 with spaces. It just depends on how much you have to say

Mine ended up being about 350 words, a bit under 2000 characters. I made mine into a relaxed essay. It had an intro and then two paragraphs, one for each summer. It’s really up to you if you want to make it into a formal essay or just a casual paragraph. If you didn’t do much over your summer to write a lot, try adding some interesting details about what you did do. Don’t feel obligated to fill those 2400 characters, though. They just want to make sure you have enough space!

I only found out on CC after turning in my application that most people took the summer experience opportunity to write an additional essay. I literally wrote two lines, which were copied and pasted from my resume. I felt like I’d already explained my activities on the Michele Hernandez-style resume I’d attached to the Common App and in my supplemental essay, so why waste their time?

I used every single character available to me. I usually have more trouble fitting all my thoughts in that making them long enough. I would say that it doesnt matter if you don’t use all the characters as long as you get your point across

Mine was about 1800 characters :)
