Question about supplement!!!

Does it matter how long my essay is? I've gotten really great comments on it, but it is about 270 words long, which might be a bit short. This is what the prompt says: "In addition to the essay you have written for the Common Application, please write an essay of about 500 words (no more than 650 words and no less than 250 words)."

Do you think it's okay if my essay is a bit on the shorter side?

Thank you in advance!

How long are your supplement essays? Are they longer than 270?

Typically applicants have essays longer than 270. I’m not saying that it will kill you to have a 270 word essay, but most people have longer ones.

If you think making it longer will make the essay worse, then don’t. If you think it could make it better, then do. The word count alone isn’t what would hurt you, -you followed their guidelines- it would be the possible lack of information about you or lack of elaboration. If you think your essay is the best at 270 words, keep it. One thing you could do, is think of something to add, add it, then see which version you like more.

@18Dylan18 Thanks so much  I looked at it again and I had a bit of an epiphany, so I added a bit more to the middle section. And thank you @Wharton2020, as well!
