for those of you flying...

dont forget that they charge like $20 for the first checked bag and $30? for the second (depending on airline)

also...taxi service in ithaca sucks...so expect to wait about an hour at the airport before being able to actually get to campus...and even then you'll probably ride with a couple other students (in the van)

He’s right. Taxi service sucks pretty badly here. :frowning: I think there are only two companies, and one of them is currently closed for vacation.

oh just take the bus if you arrive Mon-Fri. Check the bus schedule tho.

Ughs… thanks for the heads up.

what airport do you even fly into? Syracuse?

Syracuse Hancock International Airport.

I know for United if you check in online 24 hours before your flight the check in baggage fee is cheaper than it would be at the airport.

i’m curious about this. So if you fly, then you just have to buy all the major things once you get there?

^Well I drove to campus for the initial move-in and then I flew for all subsequent trips to and from campus.

I’ve got a semi-related question. For any returning students flying into Ithaca (either directly or via conection), has your luggage ever been delayed?

Because the past 2 times I’ve flown, my checked luggage has arrived 1 day after I do. I can only assume that since I transfer at Philadelphia or LaGuardia, my luggage fails to make the transfer with me.

I always transfer in Charlotte or Philly and my baggage has never been delayed.

Well, living in California, I don’t think I’d want to make the drive :)

^Why not? Driving across the country can be fun. :)

Caillebotte-- my Cornell D just left for a semester abroad. She left from La Guardia and some of her luggage was lost. Maybe its La Guardia.
