Hi everyone. Congrats to everyone who have made it to UCR. If you guys have further questions that you might want to know before making this life changing decision, come ask us at highlanderforum. This forum is a community dedicated to UCR students and a great way for you incoming freshmans to meet other highlanders. If you guys have any questions or comments I'll be happy to answer them. Also, if there's anythin I can do to make the forum more useful for you just tell me! Thanks! Good luck!

What will happen to my admission to UCR if i can't take the AWPE exam on May 12th? Is UCR the only UC that makes you take this exam or do all the UC's do this? thanx

Well I suggest that you take the exam so you can be placed into an English class asap. Also, if you don't pass the exam you'll have to take remedial English classes that don't satisfy your breadth requirements or count as graudation units. This is why it's important to take this test asap cause I'm sure you'd rather spend your second year focusing on your major.

Take this test seriously, you don't want to waste money on classes that don't count.

I went on a tour on SAT. and it seems kinda boring and some of the buildings are really crappy but its not all that bad. I imagined the campus to be a lot bigger -_-

ucr's campus is actually pretty big, but only because all the buildings are spaced out and short. the architecture is pretty ugly, you won't see any romanesque style buildings or fountains on campus...

I guess I have to agree with you on this. The nicest buildings are probably the new engineering building and science labs next to the Lothian dorms. The science library is pretty cool too. The humanities building reminds me of a giant bath house or bathroom hehe. I still love UCR!!!

I'm a political science major. Hmm....What I like most about UCR are the people. From all the UCs, UCR is definitely the most diverse. This is probably my personal opinion but I think the students at UCR are a lot nicer. There's much more but I got to start working on my paper!

i am giving riverside some serious consideration though =)
it's just there's alot of threads on CC that bashes riverside and talks about how horrible the place is and how everyone who goes there wants to get out really badly..but it seems like you loved your experience there! is it really as bad as people make it out to be?

I bet half, or even more, of those students who talk crap about UCR don't even go to the school. If you talk to UCR students, most will tell you that they had a great time.

I've been to UCR and UCI, and I still prefer Riverside by a long shot.

There will always be people who find something to complain about. Even schools like Harvard, Stanford, and Yale have students who are unhappy about the school they chose. Fortunately though, most of the students who do go to those schools are happy there. I love being at UCR, and with all the new expansion I'm a bit jealous I can't stay there for a bit longer. The new commons look like they'll be great!
