For those of you who wrote a letter for your supplement...

For those of you who wrote a letter for your supplement, how did you structure it? I'm halfway through mine (I'm writing to Theodore Roosevelt) and I'm a little stuck. Did you focus on one issue that your leader was having or did you advise them on multiple issues? How long is yours?

mine focused on one main piece of advice, but that was just what was appropriate for the person i chose and the theme that i wanted to go with… i’m sure there’s other ways to go depending on what you want to say. it was about 1100 words, but mine was definitely on the longer end.

Mine was more of an analytical essay on what my person should do as opposed to a letter. Is that an issue?

Mine was a really personal letter since I wrote about someone I knew, rather than a historical figure.

Wait, was it supposed to be a letter?? I took the analytical essay approach too… I wrote about Albus Dumbledore, and focused on one main problem (communication) then gave different examples where he could have done things better. Mine was around 1200 words.

Ughh! I’m still having trouble who to write about. I between Veronica Mars and Ron Paul. What do you guys think?
I would have an easier time writing about Veronica Mars just because I LOVE that TV show. The show ended on a cliff hanger (cause the CW canceled the show) and my advice would just continue the story line.

HOWEVER…I don’t want to sound like a dumb bimbo and write about some teen drama protagonist. Thats where Ron Paul comes in, and I would be his campaign manager. This would be a more difficult essay for me to write. At first, I wanted to do Ron Paul but I feel like if I write about him, I’ll look really boring and so serious. I feel like I could do so much with this essay and giving them some essay about Ron Paul would get boring.

What do you guys think?

spark25- my initial reaction would be to go with the one you’re more interested in and would have more fun writing. I think as long as you show you’ve put a lot of thought into it, they won’t see it as just some “dumb bimbo” :stuck_out_tongue: However, it is supposed to be about a leader, and it sounds like you’re talking to the network? I would try to pick one specific person…
