ucla rejects who thought they would get in. post stats

dunno why im posting... just kinda wanna see that im not the only one out there who was confident in getting in (with pretty good stats) but didnt...

2170 sat
700 chem
800 math iic
4.2 weighted
3.7 unweighted
a *load of aps (nothing new these days -.-)
a *load of community service (csf prez, founded WOW, weekly volunteer at frontline)
other ecs (3rd in nation- academic decathlon, jv swim team 9 and 10th, worked summer 11th and 12)
decent essay

now that i list it out, it seems very much like what other ppl have... but when i see people who rank below me in their effort and results... get in... its like ***f.........

plus.... 38% admit rate...... i dunno. makes me wanna cry... but ive been freakin numb this whole day... seems like i dont care as much as i should.... or maybe it hasn't hit me yet :-/

Are you a CA state resident? If so, you have a reason to be annoyed. If not, then don't feel too bad. the UCs are EXTREMELY competitive out-of-state.

yeah, actually ='(

It's actually a ~25% admit rate.

Anyway, I was rejected too but whatever.
Hopefully Berkeley will be more...reasonable?

Aww...you got gypped, man. You should have gotten in...

As an out of state applicant you really shouldn't feel bad about that, you could have easily gotten in if you were a Cali resident.

sorry i might have not been clear.

i am a california resident... i drive to ucla every week (my sister goes there)

Is that the correct UC GPA?

your unweighted and weighted gpas dont match

if you had a 3.7 uw, you should have a 4.1 UC weighted gpa.

I feel your pain, hope you applied to Berkeley.
Also, you got nothing to lose (now) if you appeal. Who knows !

2250 SAT
790 IIC, 780 Chem, 770 US History
3.8 UCGPA
Have taken 8 APs including senior year (3 5's, 2 4's)...school offers about 10...
President of Math Club, Knowledge Bowl Club...played piano for 8 years...Marching band for 4 years...
Decent essays I guess.

Oh yeah cali resident also.

To nyaghooti, now that I know you're a Cali resident, I say you got screwed in my opinion. I hope you applied to UCB. I think for most UCs you're a competitive applicant.

i didnt even break 2000 on my SAT and i got in, but i had a 3.97 (1 B, freshmen year) GPA with all honors and AP classes and involvment in ASB all 4 years, ASB president senior year.

UCLA is very random, people with better stats then me have gotten in... i was pretty sure i wasnt going to get in

This screwd talk is just silly. There are no guarantees.

yeah im pretty sure the admit rate was lower than 38%

appeal?

vicissitudes...that is INSANE dude.

3.8 unweighted gpa
4.2 weighted
2080 sat: 790 math, 670 writing, 620 verbal
740 IIc, 680 us history
ap euro, ap psych, ap us and ap physics, calc, and econ this year
resident of san francisco, california.

oh well. please berkeley please.

A friend of mine had:

3.9 UW / 4.2 UC Weighted
~2120 SAT I, 2x720 SAT II
Strong extracurriculars
In-state

yeah. it's 4.16 4.17 or 4.18 ...or 4.19 i don't remember what was on my transcript...i only have the uncapped weighted and that to doesn't do mcuh

lilmonster, you sure know how to break someone's heart. Many ppl on this thread were rejected with stronger stats including OP than you. And you come with "I didnt even break 2000 and I got in..." That hurts. If I were you I would have just count my lucky star and keep quiet.

^ ditttttoooooo that.
