For those taking ochem

Is there a textbook you would recommend getting to study with?

I thought the mandatory text book (by smith or something) was pretty good with the solution manual. If you need help doing mechanisms, I recommend “The art of writing reasonable organic reaction mechanisms” by Robert Grossman. Although you’ll probably only use about half the book- up to chapter 3 (still 150 pages)
I also liked “Frontier Orbitals and Organic Chemical Reactions” by Ian Fleming, although it’s more MO theory heavy than you’ll probably need for the 51 series.

I haven’t seen ochem as a second language in detail- it seems more geared towards bio majors/premeds who just want to get through ochem. The above two books are really geared towards actual organic chemists; a field I left a while ago…
