For those that are pro-life.

I'm Pro-choice and I would still keep the child - though if I were in a poor financial condition or knew I wouldn't be able to properly care for the child, I'd use adoption.
Just because you're pro-choice doesn't make you pro-abortion.

Never in a million years would I abort my baby. No matter what the diagnosis.

^ I like that attitude. I have the same principles

If I had a fetus/child testing positive for Down's? This would be a no-brainer.

Lesson, don't want kids use birth control!

Yeah, I agree. People complain about pills being too hard to remember....that's ridiculous.

But - this thread is about having a baby with Down syndrome. Not about abortion because they don't want a kid, period.

why? are you religious?

A fetus is not a person though. It can't live on its own. If you were to take it out the womb, it would die. Even on life support.

No offense, but that's a pretty weak statement.

No it's not. It's not a person. It can't think for itself up until the third trimester or whatever it might be called. With that said, it's nothing. It's potential life, sort of like a chicken's egg. Stop eating abortions, fools.

That and the fact that your views are completely taken from the bible. If you grew free of religion, I highly doubt you would condone abortion in anyway or form. Having said that, since it is extracted from religion, there is absolutely no reason why you should press your viewpoint on me. Hence, if you don't want an abortion, don't get one. If a woman wants one, let her get one. What's your problem with that?

I have a problem with abortion because I do view them as human. Life starts at conception, in my opinion.

I am not religious, but abortion seems wrong to me. however, i'm not "fundamentally" pro-life, as I do see reasons for them.
Something that I would like to see come to fruition would be something where people are allowed one abortion (because people make mistakes), but after that, if it doesn't endanger the mother or if it's not from a rape victem, you have to have it and look into adoption.

There was this one girl at my school that, as a freshman, was having her second abortion. I wanted to smack the hell out of her... and I still wish I had... but I've since changed schools anyway.
still, people like that **** me of.

the worst thing about my statement is that the whole one abortion thing would never happen. most pro lifers think of abortion as murder (as do I), so I basically just said that people are allowed one free murder because "people make mistakes." still, I think it would be better than as many abortions as people want.

I, also, would not have an abortion for any reason except if I was about to die.

I know this because God doesn't exist. Also, my username spells it out for you.
God put aside, would you?

[/quote]

Sorry but you can't prove that God doesn't exist. Kinda like how I can't prove God does exist.

Anyway, I'm pro choice because I see it the same way I see gay marriage and committing adultery.

People who are pro life commit adultery. Hey, isn't that a sin? Gay marriage, yea don't call it marriage and I'm fine. Why? it's their life not mine. Telling them being gay is a sin is like trying to prove to them God exists. it's impossible until the end of the world.

Abortion. Hey, if you have a crappy life and you don't want your baby then that's your choice. it's your body not mine.

What I'm saying is, those who are religious do not realize that enforcing a belief on someone with rude comments and/or actions isn't the best way.

You have to show others why what you're doing is right and that the way you live is a happier life. No non believer is gonna convert after seeing you call gay people *ags or making high school girls cry on their way to the abortion clinic.

Idk. This entire topic is too complicated so I don't even know what i'm talking about.

I kind of like your reasoning. At least you're not close-mindedly (is that a word) saying you're right and anybody that disagrees is wrong.

God was created through ignorance and schizophrenia.

Why do you think that?

Why does everyone hate dead horses so much? =|

since you changed the question, my answer changes too i guess

but yeah i would abort the baby if it had downs. it would be too hard to care for it and i think i'd get frustrated and feel hopeless. and i'd worry whos gonna take care of the kid when im gone. i also wouldn't want my kid to suffer like be abused by caretakers or bullied. its not easy raising a disabled kid. i think i'd feel sad about it my whole life though and guilty sometimes too

but then if i was actually pregnant then maybe id have a bond with my baby and couldn't do the abortion

also if you think im trying to rationalize it well yeah im admitting it, i am, but until you are the person who has to deal with raising a retarded kid then you can't be judging them. people always say that they are blessed by their retarded kids and they show how life is beautiful, etc., but what happens when its not all roses anymore? i mean do you know how many marriages break apart becasue of the stress of raising a disabled kid?

"Why do you think that?"

Simple logic and basic understanding. The story is God created Adam and Even and people grew off them. Now during the course of this event, they forget God even exists...which is weird in its own. Polytheism somehow arises over the course of 3,000 years (I'm going according to Abrahamic religion. If I have it right, through the bible/torah, the universe is estimated at 5000 years.)

2000 BC and Abraham is approached by God. This man is undoubtedly old and is probably senile. Oh yeah, something that confused me is how people lived up to be 800 years old and the life expectancy rate declined. Wouldn't there be solid evidence of the existence of Adam and Eve? He's approached and he has kids and blabibbly blabbidy blah.

For 2000 years the jews are whipped around back and forth. Jesus, a jew, is born. Now all of this is occurring over the course of the roman empire. It is through the roman empire that I even consider Jesus to be a historical figure. He is the King of Jews (something I heard during the mel gibson movie. It's name escapes my mind). My mind fell to awe when I learned of that. Jesus's followers are Christians, but he himself was a jew. Whadda****? So I later pretty much learned Christian's are Jews who believe Jesus was the messiah while Jews are still waiting on their messiah.

Oh yeah, the accounts of Abraham, Adam and Eve, and all that fun stuff are written ~800-1200 years after Abraham. We've all played telephone and know what can happen in 2 minutes. Same thing for the new testament. Isn't it close to 40 years after Jesus's death?

People created polytheistic religions because they didn't have answers (God abandoned them...?) Anyways, the polytheistic religions become too hard to follow. Romans, greeks, Hindus...they all have their own. So one powerful God is created. He's created in such an image that he is literally superman with no kryptonite. He is no Greek god either. There is no coming into human form and interacting amongst the people. He is hidden, but he can see everything. He knows everything and knows it real well. Now of course, what continues to elude me is how people, over the course of 3000 years, with life expectancy of ~800 years can forget about God. Help me.

Some of my figures are based off the top of my head give me some insight.

People believe without God we'll be cruel to one another and we'll rip one another's heads off and the world will be in chaos. It's the same way with God. There is this belief that we need answers to everything. No you don't. You truly do not. Sort of like a magic trick, we want to figure it out because it's nagging at us. Once its revealed to us, we try to keep it a secret from everyone else and so forth.

Schizoprhenia - hearing voices, people talking to you, Muhammad (who was off, meditating by himself), the Virgin Mary giving a virgin birth (oh no you didn't) and Abraham. Also all the spin off religions from it.

Religion does bring hope, but it also brings the worst thing of all: extremism. If that door is available to be opened, the door that leads to extremism, then the entire building must be shut down and barred. No lie.

Haha. I thought about Godwin's Law after I read the Nazi post too.
