For those who attended admitted student days last week

Any tips for parents and students? We will be attending next week and want to make the most of our time there. D19 has already registered to sit in a class.

I think the program runs itself. There were some sessions that I found more interesting than others, but my takeaway was that it was an opportunity for the students to meet other incoming and current students and to get a better feel for the community. My child and his classmates also got a better sense of the housing options and to some extent, the academic life.

We stayed a day longer and explored downtown – did the Second City, Millennium Park, etc. It was nice to show our child the world outside of Hyde Park. Overall, it was really special to see my child and his classmates imagining their college life and beginning that transition. So, my advice is to just let your daughter immerse herself in the program & sit back and watch. Good luck.

The campus was just starting to bloom on Thurs/Fri. so hopefully today’s blizzard isn’t hurting that!

Look through the informational sessions ahead of time to decide which to attend. You may want to split up to cover more of them. Campus tours differ based on tour guides - try to find one with whom you share interests.
