I’d really appreciate it if those of you who were accepted ED would tell me your SAT stats. SAT 2 grades wouldn’t hurt either. Thanks so much.

SAT: CR 680 M 730 W 680
SAT II: Bio 700, Chem 750, US History 720

Brandeis really isn't big on SAT scores though, according to them at least it goes:

High School Record

EC and Essays and etc.

Testing

I didn't take the SAT, I took the ACT. Mine was a 29 with writing (31 if you superscript). It's about a 1300 on the SAT.

Also, could you say if you got a scholarship?

Well, I technically got a scholarship in the form of "alumni & friends scholarship". But that's just what they call grant money. Deis seems to use scholarships to lure in kids who might not be considering it particularly because they could go to "better" schools (like anything is better than Deis!). I hear alot about kids going just cos of great scholarships. They do seem pretty generous, I think a quarter of students are on merit scholarship.

SAT: CR 660 M 670 W 720
SAT II: Bio-E 620, Math I -640
ACT: 30

Plus a commendation on my PSAT

Yeah, I didn't get merit aid, and I am not aware of anyone from this forum who did. What Hemmingway said is probably right.

700 M, 680 CR, 710 W. I also had a 670 on Bio M and a 710 US History.

No merit aid.

I have

SAT 1:
740 Reading
720 Math
680 Writing

SAT 2:
660 US History
700 Literature
720 Math 1c

Do I have a good chance of getting in and getting a merit scholarship?

Merit aide is really shifty. It really varies who gets it and a lot of times it doesn't make sense.

I have one friend who got a full scholarship with 680 verbal, 600 math, and I don't know what the writing was because last year it didn't count. Then again, I had another friend who got over 750 on all her scores, plus high SAT2 scores and got nothing. It seems that with merit aide, scores mean relatively little rather than other aspects.

From my vantage point, I don't know anyone who got more than a stipend of merit aide unless they were inner city kids and/or minorities. I know that's not always completely true but that's just how I see it.

SilverClover, that is definitely not true.. what hemingway said about a lot of people choosing to go because of merit scholarships is true, at least in my experience. I chose brandeis solely because of the large merit scholarship offered, and i knew others who did the same (i have since transferred) -- and I am a Jew from a suburb! Yes, there are certain scholarship programs aimed at inner city students/minorities, but there are MANY other scholarships that aren't!

Like I said, in my experience, I don't have a single friend who is not a minority or from the inner city that got merit aide in any significant amount. Maybe I just didn't have friends who picked a school just because of scholarships...

It appears to be that brandeis finds the best combo of need and merit when deciding to whom it should give a scholarship. Also those of us who applied and got in early likely didnt get aide because we already made the commitment. Why would they need to give us a scholarship. Anyway, im pumper for deis '11 its gonna be amazing
