My kid got a rejection email yesterday. Sad it was not even a wait-list. Called me from out-of-state in the morning, sounding quite dejected. By evening was in a much better state of mind, focusing on other opportunities. One other selective LAC already had responded (accepted, with merit scholarship).

For comparison, you might want to know the stats. 700 CR, 790 M. 3.4 uw, in an all-IB program at a competitive private school where hardly anyone ever gets straight-As. High score on national ACM math exam. Several leadership positions at school. Employed as the youngest counselor in a summer outdoor camp program (other counselors were all adults or college students). Artwork presented outside school in regional shows. 1 musical instrument. Glowing recommendation from a Wes alum.

Congratulations to accepted students. Wes is a great school, and they seem to try hard to put together an interesting diverse class. You can be proud of making it through an especially competitive process this year. And wherever my kid winds up, I hope they really clean Wesleyan's clock in sports next year!
