For those who got waitllisted

I saw the similar thread at other colleges section, so I decided to post this.

My younger sister recently got waitlisted at Penn, Duke which are the only top schools she applied besides the safety state school, and it was awful to see her disappointed after the decision came out. I'm just posting this to ask those who took the waitlist spot to seriously consider if they can drop every other college if they get accepted to Penn. There are people who really really want to go to Penn, and I don't think it's fair if people who applied "just because" get the spot. If you are the "just because" person, please drop the spot..

I hope I was polite enough!! Thank you all

I can’t agree more! I think it’s pretty selfish if you take the spot even though you know you’re gonna drop it. Two years ago, when my sister knew where she was going, she immediately took her name off the waitlist.

Same! I was waitlisted at both my reach schools, Penn and Johns Hopkins. I REALLY hope I can get off the waitlist and into Penn as Penn is my #1. JHU is my #2… otherwise I’m heading to my safety school, too. Good luck to your sister!

Trust me, be glad you are on the wait list. I applied ED and got in. The valedictorian and salutatorian applied to Wharton RD, and only the valedictorian got in. The salutatorian got the reject. The two of them are very comparable, but the valedictorian has a higher GPA by like 0.1 or 0.15 (so like a 4.7 vs a 4.8 GPA type of thing).

The valedictorian just announced that she’s going to the public state school and applied to Wharton just to see if she could get in. The salutatorian just got screwed over. So, I would say, please please please be grateful that you are on the wait list…the situation could be a lot worse!!
