I guess i am just jealous of all those 1400+, i always get depressed when i come here. I studied so long and hard, yet i am still stupid :(. Well, this thread if for those who are satisfied with 1400 isn't a good score, fire away with your reasons.

Newby, you have to realize that when people complain about or retake already high scores, they are simply doing it because they think they can do better. They already know that a 1400 is an excellent score, but they know that there are another 200 points for them to grab. It's not that they're bragging (sometimes it is...but not usually), it's just that for the schools they want to go to, a 1400 really doesn't cut it. With admissions the way they are now, there's a lot of pressure for everyone to score insanely high, and sometimes even a 1500 doesn't seem so great when your best friend and fellow Harvard applicant has a 1580.

Yes - I know I might have come off as being arrogant at some points - but understand that when I ask for the advice of those who got high 700s/800s, it is because that is what I expect of myself, and need in order to get where I want to go. I do not mean to exclude people by asking advice only from those with the highest scores ... I do not mean to say that any other score is a "bad" score - and I do not think that anyone who doesn't get a high 700/800 is not a smart person. I simply have asked for the advice of the highest scorers because they obviously have done something "right" to get the score they got.

well stated

heh, I was somewhat like you. Before, I could hardly score a 1200, and I got really depressed whenever I came here. The trick is to keep studying. That's what I did, and I ended up scoring well above 1400. I know I have a decent score.. but I still feel I can do better. For the most part, I don't think people are bragging; it's just the person sees he/she has room for improvement. Isn't it natural to keep striving for the better??
