i thought i did well, but maybe i was just unlucky; however, learning ways to avoid little mistakes will help everyone improve.

does anyone know how many raw points i lost for math? also, any good strategies to reduce or eliminate stupid mistakes?

october target: 2300+ (75+ CR, 80 M, 75+ W)

over the past year i realized that repetition doesn't help me (i've taken many practice tests). like others have said, strategies and pattern hunting really would help us more, especially for the upper score ranges.

June: 2120 (620 CR, 780 M, 720 W)
Goal: 2300+

Practice, practice, practice and more practice critical reading sections!
Hope that I don't make a stupid mistake on math like I did this time..
Um, hope that I'm in a writing mood on the day of the SAT for writing?

my math was trash and i can definitely study and get into the 600's. my grammar in writing can improve by about 50-80. and my CR by maybe 50 if i look at some vocabulary. realistic for me i guess. i am going to be doing plenty of blue book tests in my free time this summer.

After second time (in June)
1950 (M 590, CR 660, W 700)
Goal:
2050+ (M 650-700, CR 700-720, W 720-750)
I plan on focusing on Math by practicing with Barron's, PR, and any other math workbooks..

I'm fine with my 1460 for M+CR (730 M, 730 CR) but my 640 (68/7) on Writing is bugging me. I'll just work on that section, go over vocab, do some practice tests, and take the SAT for the second time in October.

June score: 690 CR 690 W 780 M
Goal: 710 CR 780 W 800 M
Study plan: A LOT of practice tests to practice CR. Entire Blue Book. McGraw-Hill for writing. Kaplan Writing Workbook...Barron's flashcards for some vocab. Gruber's for math. Grammatix for everything else.

October PSAT: 216 (CR 65, M 75, W 76)
I'm aiming for at least 2300 by October.

My study plan includes:

Learning Sparknotes 1000 then Barron's 3500

Taking at least 50 practice tests including ones from the PSAT, the old SAT, and the GRE

Redoing all incorrect math and writing questions 2 months later

Producing a generic essay template that will apply to almost all topics (Anyone want to help me out on this?)

I know this may be excessive, but my PSAT score was a fluke and I'm still at the 2100 level now.

In my opinion, the math is the easiest to bring up. The key is simply speed. I was able to finish every section with 10 minutes left which let me check every answer twice. I have no idea how i missed one though :(

The critical reading is mainly knowing 1000+ vocabulary terms. If you are able to skim through the vocabulary recall questions it gives you much more time to analyze the passages. I did this and went up 100 points easily.

There is a really great software program out there. It's at www.psdinc.org It gives you AUTOMATED flash cards with 2 databases pre-installed. There is a big database with over 3000 flash cards from all the big names like Kaplan, PR, Barron's and a condensed database with 500 flash cards. CHECK IT OUT! It's 20 dollars but worth every penny!

I don't know how to bring up writing. It's very difficult for me to write a good essay in 25 minutes. But i guess i need to do a lot of practice writing sections to improve my MC.

I've been studying for the last couple of days (I just started like three days ago), but I haven't been studying well enough. I've been going too easy on myself.

Well, I better snap out of it and start studying like crazy before it's too late!

Does anyone know where I can find Barrons 3500 word list? (Besides in the SAT Prep Book)

What is the expected number of hours that I should study to get to my goal? Should I just ditch every tip, trick, advice, etc. and focus only on practice questions?
