if you had score above 2000 on SAT, which test preperation did you use? did it help and any advice to score above 2000 on SAT?

CB blue book and all practice tests. 204 PSAT to 2200 SAT.

I took the Kaplan SAT Prep Course but that was only the first of many methods incorporated into my two year preparation for the SAT's, which in turn fueled my inspiration and drive for excellence to score near "perfection".

I wouldn't recommend Kaplan AT ALL! No, don't take it. Don't even look at the brochures or anything. USE THE COLLEGE BOARD BLUE BOOK!

(says it a million times)...

Who knows better than the people who make the tests?

(is later paid by College Board for endorsing in their product) :D

Half-Hour of Blue-Book reading: 2130

Taking it again on the 3rd...gonna take all the Blue Book practice tests...hopefully my score improves greatly :).

I'm finally taking the SAT the first time on June 3rd and I'm pretty nervous. But I'm gonna prep for 3-4 hours a day for each of the 5 days (no joke) and take a practice test at the end of each day. Good plan?

Good as any cram plan, I guess.

If it helps, I did less prep than that & scored 2010.

The first time I took the SAT, I did no prep and got a 2130. Retook after doing a 10 real SAT practice test book over the following summer, and got up to a 2340. Practice makes nearly perfect.

Nice, sysiphus! That was really encouraging. So you just worked with the red CB book all thru summer? What strategy do you suggest while studying the 10 Real SATs book?

Oh my god, sysiphus you are fantastic. You raised 210 points just by practicing books ;). Which methods did you use bacause you know: many people possess 10 Real SAT and do practices but not many people can have their scores increased significantly like you ? ;)
Thanks in advance for your reply !

I did no prep and got a 2040. But that isn't saying a lot since I got a 580CR, a 690M, and a 770W. In the 1600 scale I only got a 1270 so I have to take it again :(

That's a good math and verbal score.

paco! and Pygmalion: I didn't really have a magic solution. My poor section was Math (670), and a friend of mine did poorly on CR, so a few times a week we would sit down at a table and do practice test sections, then explain to each other what we did wrong. That's my best advice--find someone who can explain your weak section to you, and if you can, help them with something else--it is a lot less humbling/easier to benefit from if you can give back as well as get help.

I got a 1380 on the psat and a 2020 on the SAT, and I am still going to go for much higher. I used several books, such as the collegeboard, mcgraw hill and kaplans. I took the kaplans class, and also, I had private tutoring. My english teacher also tutored the kids with the best avg. during lunch - DAN

I used about two tests from CB's blue book as well as another two tests from PR and got a 2050 (800 M, 650 CR, 600 W) on my first SAT test.

I got a 2270 without studying. But my friend went from 1890 to 2130 by reading "Up Your Score." I took a look and saw that it's really good. If I had read it I probably would have done 50 to 100 points better.

I used PR to study a little bit and got a 2330. My advice would be to become familiar with the grammar the WR tests you on and study the vocab booster or whatever its called to study for the CR. Its certainly possible to improve on the passages but it will take more time and work imho.

I don't know what I'm doing in this thread. I feel really bad about my score now (1800) :(:(:(:(
