Forbes ranked Northeastern as #519 in its ranked list of the 610 "best colleges" in America.
Thoughts? I thought this seemed way low.

WOW.that is waaaaaay tooo low. The students that ranked the schools definitely hated northeastern. NU should have been at least in the 130s to and maximum 300s

There is a whole thread about the Forbes rankings:
http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/parents-forum/978673-forbes-best-colleges-list.html?highlight=forbes
Cornell University ranked #70? etc etc.

While no ranking is perfect, Forbes seems exceptionally flawed.

one reason might be that their methodology looks at 4-yr graduation rates; a large number of NEU students are on 5-yr plans due to co-ops

Yeah most people don’t care or agree with Forbes. US News (although it has flaws too) is considered to be the more reliable judge. Try not to get hung up on Forbes- they never make sense.

One thing I noticed was that this seemed to be based on data that was already several years old, and that, as Northeastern didn’t even offer an option to complete school in four years until a year or two ago, the school is listed as having a 0% graduation rate.

Zero percent graduation rate! LOL. Well, that would explain Northeastern’s low ranking.

Several schools in the USNews top 50 are ranked in the 200 to 400 range in Forbes

I was never a regular reader of Forbes but this list makes me doubt the credibility of other articles they publish.

Actually Northeastern has always had the option to graduate in 4 years. The ONLY difference this year is that they are advertising it more and showing more example layouts of how you could graduate in four years with most majors. People (although not many) have graduated in four years throughout Northeastern’s entire history.

haha forbes, the only thing they rank right are the richest people in the world…cause they numbers are right there.
