The tuition award is certainly not totally need-based. I got 10,500 of it without submitting FAFSA/CSS.
Hey @cfnv101 and @lilaba how did you guys find out about the merit aid? I am on the portal but I don’t where I should go to check.
@Nimisha99 I couldn’t find mine on my portal either. I found out because they mailed it in a pamphlet thing to my house. I think the letters got sent a few days ago- I remember reading a thread where someone in Connecticut got their letter last week. I live on the west coast and I just got mine today. I’m sure if you called the financial aid office they could help you with the portal or just tell you whether or not you got any merit aid.
@lilaba Do you mean 24K was surprisingly high or low?
Thank you @lilaba
@IMHoneybee56 high!!!
@lilaba My student has a similar GPA and 31 ACT and got 24K, too. We live 700+ miles from the school, so perhaps they are trying to get more geographic diversity.
@IMHoneybee56 thats awesome good for them! And yeah that makes a lot of sense
did anyone else receive the ‘experience fordham’ email about a travel voucher for visiting the school? if so, how does that work? (i got in with the full ride, national hispanic program scholarship for perspective)
Just a clarification about NM Finalist notices… I learned that school notifications went out this week and students will receive letters of notification mailed out on Monday 2/13.
Has anyone ever appealed their financial aid package and requested additional aid? How do you go about doing this?
Congrats to everyone on their acceptance!
@SFLmom my S received the National Merit Semi Finalist scholarship for full tuition. It was listed on his portal when he was accepted and it was listed in the Financial Aid packet we received this week. I know that some people at LC also heard about the Honors Program, but I was wondering if anyone at Rose Hill had gotten an invitation yet? Thanks!
@doody1425 i got one as well. It’s basically Fordham paying for you to visit from my understanding. I’ve turned in the paperwork and received confirmation today. Can’t wait to visit!
My D received a Dean’s Scholarship of 30K per year. It is reflected in her my.fordham.edu portal when you click Applicant at the top, then Financial Aid at the lower left, then Awards. It is not reflected in the admissions portal. This is a significant increase over the amount she received when admitted in December.
When will regular decision letters go out?
@saints99 “typically no later than April 1” - from the fordham website https://www.fordham.edu/info/20531/apply/2528/dates_and_deadlines
Has anyone with an ED deferral heard anything yet? (2/16/17)
I got in EA and didn’t get much money. I wasn’t expecting much need-based but I got low merit aid. I will still be paying about 50k a year. I got a 1400 on the new sat. Is Fordham worth 50k a year, compared to a school like Seton Hall for only 22k a year.
Only if you have a spare $112,000 laying around! @Devils26
@Devils26 I would suggest having that “money talk” with your parents to see what they can comfortably afford. I think Fordham is the better school but money is a consideration that cannot be ignored in the final choice.
