Fordham Gabelli or Penn State Smeal for business undergrad?

Would love some opinions on the undergraduate business programs at Fordham v. Penn State. Student was accepted to both with Fordham being about $10k more per year. He toured both campuses and likes them both for different reasons. Academically, what do you think is better? How is college life? Opportunities for internships/employment? TIA for your help.

I think that you are wise to be asking about internships & employment opportunities at both schools.

NYC location for Fordham is a big plus for internships. A big Fordham network on the street as well. Some things at Fordham like the new credit analysis center endowed by a big hedge fund alum are unique.

A much different experience as well NYC vs. State College. Not saying one is better versus the other, but very different feel.

What is your end goal? If I-banking, likely easier at Fordham but you can check with the career center.

To me, one is in NYC and one is in the middle of nowhere - but a huge self made community with your traditional college experience.

Which is best for you? You have to be there four years day after day after day. So it’s up to you - but I imagine if ii-banking is on your mind, then I’d think Fordham…but check their outcomes.

Good luck

If money isn’t a problem, go to Fordham.

You’ll have prestige, status, and respect and connections with good firms in NYC. Fordham business is also in NYC so you’ll meet a lot of great people who will allow you to climb the corporate ladder quickly and earn as much money as you can.
Best of luck.

I’m assuming he’s not a direct admit to Smeal. I’d do Gabelli if the finances work.

S20 loved Gabelli. Probably would’ve gone with a little more merit. Good luck.
