I was recently accepted to both Smeal and Gabelli and I was wondering which has a better Finance/International Business program. Additionally, after I graduate I would really like to have a job hahah. School size doesn't matter much and neither does location. I'm looking more at academics and reputation. Any help would be appreciated!

Anybody out there?!?..

Well as far as rankings going, here Penn State Smeal is ranked 25 whereas Gabelli is ranked 52. I also know Smeal is very good for job connections (#1 schools for recruiters!) However if money is an issue and Fordham is considerably cheaper, don’t ignore the fact that Fordham is another very good school.

Thanks sop! I like rankings too but I feel that they only can tell so much. I’m from Long Island so I know what NYC has to offer but WSJ ranks PSU #1 for recruiters so that’s encouraging. I’m just nervous about getting a “back office” offer after 4 long years and a few hundred thousand dollars…

I understand where you’re coming from, making a college decision is very difficult. Have you visited both schools? Got a feel of their atmospheres? Both have really good academics and reputation- congrats on being accepted to both by the way!

Congrats as well

You really can’t go wrong with either, both are great options. Ultimately, you need to decide where you feel that you’ll be the happiest for the next 4 years of your life; the happier you are, the greater the chances are of you achieving success in college and beyond.

Thanks guys, it’s just that I like the Jesuit/Gothic Architecture feel of Fordham but I think I’d like the big school sports scene at Penn too. I visited Fordham in Fall and I loved it and because Penn is one of my tops, we’re going to visit it (7 hours away) in February! I’ve also been accepted to Drexel and SUNY Albany but I’m not really thinking about either of those unless it comes down to money (Drexel gave me 22K a year). I’ll hear back from the rest of my schools in late March though so that’ll paint a much clearer picture!

Bump. Anybody else?!
