Fordham Lincoln Center Social Life

As the time to make a college decision is quickly approaching, I’m struggling on which school to commit to. I was accepted to Fordham Lincoln Center and while I like the school a lot, I’m worried about the social scene. Does everyone leave on the weekends? Does the fact that so many commuters attend make it feel too small? Is there a lot/any parties (I’m very serious about school but I want a school where I can attend parties on the weekend). Does the school have a community feel?

Any answers are appreciated!

Although I don’t have an answer for you, just wanted to say I’m in the same boat! I got into Fordham LC but I applied as a commuter, so I’m particularly worried about feeling left out of things. From what I’ve read on here, there are mixed opinions on whether there is a good social scene or not. I did read that students who dorm at LC feel much closer and form more of a bond than those who commute (for obvious reasons) if that helps at all. Hopefully a current student gives us some more insight. Congrats on Fordham, though!

I’ll be completely honest, Fordham Lincoln Center can be lonely at times. But, I think every school in the city is like that. Yes, a lot of people leave on the weekends, and the school does tend to have a high school feel because you will see the same people all the time (especially if you dorm).

Parties at Lincoln Center are rare. Of course there’s “parties”, but usually they’re more like chill hangouts. Most people go out to bars or clubs because it’s Manhattan. There are more house parties in the Bronx, but they’re not like anything you would find at a traditional state school. There are a few bars right outside of the Rose Hill campus that everyone goes to on the weekends. In my opinion, unless you and your friends have really good fakes, Rose Hill is the better campus to go out on the weekends.

As for the community feel, Lincoln Center is pretty small and connected by tunnels, so you get some sort of community feel from that. But generally, students are reluctant to participate in clubs and activities, and they mainly stick to their small groups. So, the community feel is a little bit wishy washy.

Overall, if you’re attending Fordham LC as a freshman, don’t worry. All of the freshman live in McKeon and ResLife does a pretty good job at making sure every interacts and gets to know each other.

What about RH campus?
