Just wondering if anyone out there is applying to Fordham's playwriting track for fall 2012. Going for my interview soon and I wanted to know if I have any competition on CC :P. Feel free to comment if you're applying to another track too!

Yup! I am applying for both acting and playwriting. I think I’ll probably be running from one audition to the next… I met with a playwriting major a few months ago, and he had nothing but good things to say about the program!

Yes you can! I checked in with the school and the professors before submitting my app. As of recently, you can actually double-major in acting and playwriting, two students have done it (the student I met with was a double-major)

sorry to be a downer, but i was in love with Fordham and their program and then i went and auditioned…The faculty made me feel like I was a joke. Once I was finished with my audition, they literally looked at me and said “we’ll be in touch” in the rudest way possible. Now their playwriting program is in fact legit. One of my friends goes there for playwriting and they know what they are talking about, as I’m sure they do with acting too. But i just wanted to let you know from someone who auditioned already, it was not a very welcoming environment.

I auditioned and interviewed this weekend. They were very welcoming and friendly.

rpraderio and drama94- did either of you interview this weekend on Feb 28? I met 2 of the playwriting prospectives that day. Maybe one was you?

(Well, ‘met’. I was hanging out with my friend who is currently a playwriting major at Fordham and she talked with 2 playwriting prosps while I was with her.)

My daughter auditioned for Fordham perfromance track at Chicago Unifieds and they could not have been any nicer. They were very friendly, invited her to visit and practically asked to attend on the spot. Sometimes these things are hard to figure?

Congrats to Drama94. Continued good vibes for rpraderio.

@anxious4answers sorry you felt slighted. My sons audition faculty couldn’t have been nicer or more welcoming. But hey the person he got at NYU was awful to him…so I don’t think we will ever be able to figure out what different personalities want.

Thanks! I have no idea how many people they are planning to accept into this year’s class, but I got the impression it was usually at least 2. I got my letter today, but I only live two hours outside of NY. I get the impression that they’re mailing acceptances out this year, so if you live farther away from NY it just might not have reached you yet. Good luck!

drama94, they do not accept at least 2. The often only accept 1, and there are a fair number of years when they do not accept anyone to the program. Last year only 1 was accepted.

So it seems that they have already accepted 2 Playwriting majors this year! Congratulations to both!

Admissions stats for the last few years: accepted 0 for 2013; deferred 1 for 2014 (my S) then accepted him in the Fall and another student in the Spring; accepted 1 for 2015.
