Accepted to Northeastern with 10k scholarship
Haven’t heard from SMU TCU University of San Francisco (expecting acceptance from all 3)

@Cassie7350. You should retake the SAT (or act if there is still time), everything else looks really good.

I don’t know why you are surprised. Although your GPA isn’t very high, clearly you have learned and retained a lot of information. You have solid SAT scores and I think you will be pleasantly surprised by more acceptances. Good luck!

@Squidbear‌ don’t know why you are surprised. Although your GPA isn’t very high, clearly you have learned and retained a lot of information. You have solid SAT scores and I think you will be pleasantly surprised by more acceptances. Good luck!

**Decision: Accepted

I’m super late, I know. I honestly wouldn’t bother posting this so long after being accepted, but I just made an account today, and I feel like kids with 40 ECs and 11 APs and 2350 SATs are far overrepresented on this site.

Objective:
[] SAT I (breakdown): 2060 superscore 680 CR, 700 M, 680 W
[
] ACT: 30
[] SAT II: 650 m2, 560 chem, 550 us :-S
[
] Unweighted GPA (out of 4.0): 3.3
[] Rank (percentile if rank is unavailable): I go to a school with 40 kids total. We don’t rank, but I feel safe saying I’d be #1? Not sure if that matters or if that’s the kind of thing counselors mention in reports.
[
] AP (place score in parenthesis): none, school doesn’t offer. currently taking AP Calc online.
[] IB (place score in parenthesis): none
[
] Senior Year Course Load: Calc AB, Gov, English, Spanish 3, Visual Arts
[li] Major Awards (USAMO, Intel etc.): none[/li]
Subjective:
[] Extracurriculars (place leadership in parenthesis): Student council (One of 4 students elected, we all have equal rank. It’s actually a pretty serious leadership position, lots of work.), Varsity basketball frosh year (back when I was in public school), founder of photography club
[
] Job/Work Experience: worked an admin assistant job about 15 hours a week for 8 months, currently tutor 4 hours a week
[] Volunteer/Community service: not a ton, mostly some sporadic stuff. Did a volunteer community gardening program summer after soph year that racked up a lot of hours.
[
] Summer Activities: Lots of photography. I took Intro to Econ at UC Berkeley this past summer and got a B.
[] Essays: Very strong. Had a lot of people critique them. My personal statement was about growing up biracial, and my required explanation (for switching schools) was strong as well; I discussed overcoming depression/anxiety.
[
] Teacher Recommendation: Very strong. I have very close personal relationships with each of the teachers.
[] Counselor Rec: Very strong. Know my counselor very well, she has also been my teacher.
[
] Additional Rec: none
[] Interview: none
[
] Supplementary Material: none

/list]Other
[] State (if domestic applicant): Northern California
[
] School Type: Private small alternative school
[] Ethnicity: African-American and White
[
] Gender: Female
[] Income Bracket(mention if FA candidate): high, didn’t apply for FA
[
] Hooks (URM, first generation college, etc.): I mean, I have a relatively strong upward trend in grades. My sophomore and freshman years really screwed my GPA. I’m a URM and have come far from my struggles with depression and anxiety, and have also been diagnosed with ADHD, all of which I discussed in essays.
Reflection
[] Strengths: SAT I, ACT, essays, recommendations. My math 2 score was alright for Fordham, I suppose. I’d like to think the UC Berkeley summer class did good things for me.
[
] Weaknesses: GPA, course load because of lack of offerings at my school, weak ECs
[] Why you think you were accepted/waitlisted/rejected: Because my super cool personality shone through my essays.
[
] Where else were you accepted/waitlisted/rejected: accepted at Pace and Saint Mary’s of California so far. Deferred from University of San Francisco, which is honestly hilarious to me, considering how much better Fordham is. Waiting on everywhere else.
