Fordham University EA/ED 2022

Accept EA Rose Hill! 4.0 GPA, 1480 SAT. I also got the Dean’s Scholarship, which is I think the max you can get for an international student.

Anyone get news about the Honors program?
I didn’t see it anywhere, but got accepted to RH with Dean’s scholarship. Wondering if I just didn’t get into the program

Son was accepted EA Rose Hill, Gabelli, 92 average and 33 ACT. Attending a Catholic HS in NYC suburbs (just 45 minutes away from Rose Hill) which is a feeder school for Fordham, around 150 students apply out of a graduating class of 350, and around 70% of them are accepted. Typically around 15-20 of them attend.

The portal says that his FAFSA and CSS were received but doesn’t say anything about scholarships yet. We hope he can get the Dean’s; he meets the qualifications for it listed on the website.

Can someone help I can’t seem to load my fa info

Accepted with Full Ride! 34 ACT 3.77 GPA

Accepted!! 3.6 GPA, 32 ACT, National Merit and National Hispanic Scholar

Son was accepted to Rose Hill with full tuition scholarship for National Merit. 36 ACT, GPA 3.9/4.3, AP Scholar with Distinction, 12 APs by graduation, Math 2 790, Chemistry 800. Thought he had a great chance for honors program, but no invitation. For those invited to the Honors Program, what was the wording in the invitation?

Also, son’s acceptance said that it comes with an “offer of housing”, but doesn’t say free housing. So does that mean that some students are accepted, but are not offered housing, and either have to commute or get an apartment off campus?

Based on the Fordham website, the National Merit Scholarship does not include free housing like the Presidential Scholarship does.

Are there any Presidential Scholarship winners out there? What did your acceptance say?

@appalachymom the financial packages for ea come out February first. Unless your son was invited to the presidential even, he won’t find out till then. Best of luck

@Marcroutgauzer From what I understand, need based aid packages for EA come out later, but at least some of the merit packages are offered at time of admission notice. My son was offered the National Merit scholarship in his acceptance yesterday, so I was assuming that some Presidential scholarships had also been offered with admission.

Are you saying that the students offered a Presidential scholarship were also invited to a Presidential event? I do remember reading a few posts about invited events back in November.

Thanks for your response.

I got in ED to Rose Hill with a low SAT but high GPA and awesome resumé! No matter what your scores are, always apply!! You never know what they are looking for in a student-- I am so happy!! GO RAMS!!!

I received invitation to the honors program, I think because of my varied strengths and strong recommendations (i’m in AP art, but i’m a physics major, 5s in history and english exams, etc.). They must have seen something in me because my SAT is a 1470. (4.0 UW, rank 1 though) Here’s first part of the email:

As Director of the Honors Program of Fordham College at Rose Hill, I write to invite you to become an Honors Student. After a thorough review of this year’s most accomplished candidates, the Honors Faculty Committee has identified you as someone with both the intellectual curiosity and the academic potential to thrive in our program.

The Honors Program is an alternative Core Curriculum. Honors students come from all fields – the sciences, social sciences and humanities – but all share a passion for thinking about what they learn. Does this sound like you? We think it does.

I haven’t been in this chat but I was also accepted. I didn’t even know they were releasing decisions yesterday. But if anyone was deferred or waitlisted or whatever, I was also accepted to NYU yesterday as an ED1 applicant, so I will be declining Fordham’s offer.

@appalachymom The honors invite came in a separate e-mail.

Thank you @cassiidy and @Veryapparent . Guess my son wasn’t seen as honors material. Surprising to me considering how well rounded he is: definitely more than his high stats:) We’re also from Appalachia, thought that might be a draw.

This is his first admission, so we’ll have to see what comes next!

@appalachymom

I did read that they continue the invites as they move through the RD applicants so it may be forthcoming. Indeed your son has fantastic stats. I would not be surprised if he gets an email in the near future.

did anyone get notification about the 3-2 program?

My stats were
3.9 UW GPA
4.8 W GPA
12 AP classes (by senior year)
1270 SAT
Amazing essay
Okay ECs because I had a job
Recommendation was also amazing

From California, was accepted to Lincoln Center with Presidential Scholarship and received an Honors invite. 3.85WU/4.38W, 1490 SAT, IB Diploma Candidate.

@appalachymom re your question: “Also, son’s acceptance said that it comes with an “offer of housing”, but doesn’t say free housing. So does that mean that some students are accepted, but are not offered housing, and either have to commute or get an apartment off campus?”

Yes, that’s what it means.
However I’m pretty sure that any student who requests housing can get it.

A bit of history: over the past decades Fordham made the transition from a regional, commuter school to a university that attracts students from all over the country. I was a grad student / TA there in the late 80s and lots of students commuted and many of the resident students were from the surrounding states. There were some dorms but not a whole lot. Then when we toured for my older kid in 2014 I noticed a real change. Over the past 25 years, many dorms have been built on campus and it’s definitely not a commuter school any more. However they still have a huge NYC area population base to draw on, many of whom don’t request housing.

Does anyone else have absolutely no financial anything on their my.fordham.edu link? We have no cost of attendance, financial shopping sheet or anything else there.
