I’m so confused, they’re expecting me to pay twice my EFC… Does Fordham not meet demonstrated need?
@catova, my understanding is that Fordham can only meet some of demonstrated need, usually through merit scholarship. I couldn’t find anything on their financial aid website about providing 100% of demonstrated need based aid. I think that’s one of the reason why their yield rate is quite low.
@mapar2019 yes, that makes since. This is definitely a wake up call. I assumed that most private schools met demonstrated need, but after some digging I’m realizing this isn’t the case. Thankfully most of the colleges I applied to meet DN.
@lolgirl123 it’s b/c the extra 5,500 are loans, your actual award is 25,000 i got the same
It would be great if people could keep posting merit aid or FA, and stats, and how that compares to NPC or FASFA.
Wow congrats all, those are some big merit awards! Son hasn’t checked his yet.
Did anyone receive a Presidential merit scholarship?
I got 12,500 for the loyola scholarship and 15,500 for the tuition award so 28k a year. Not terrible? Still balking at the housing costs tho, sigh
@TimeTraveler28 According to Fordham’s website, Cunniffe Presidential Scholarship has April 1 notification.
Dean’s Scholarship $33,500. Better than expected! Plus $3900 grant and $5500 in loans. But still leaves lots more to pay than EFC from FAFSA. Stats ACT 33, SAT high 1400’s ,Unweighted GPA 4.1
@mapar2019 - Thanks for your reply.
Congratulations to everyone who received merit!
Does anyone know if they give merit if you get in RD?
@mamawitch I believe so. Here is info regarding the different scholarships available. https://www.fordham.edu/info/21251/fordham_scholarships_and_grants/2532/scholarships_for_us_citizenseligible_non-citizens
Does anyone know how Fordham calculates EFC? Our Fordham online EFC calculation was around 37k and so was our fafsa and the EFC listed on our official Fordham award paperwork was $97,109! What on earth could the difference be or is it possible there was a big error
I’m not sure about how they calculate EFC, however $97,109 doesn’t look right. The total estimated cost for my D at Rose Hill (Computer Science) is around $77k. With merit aid, it’s significantly less. Maybe COA for one particular major is totally different at Fordham.
