Fordham Universtiy's pre-med program

@EmB1997 have you moved to Hunter? How is it? Do you suggest it? Im at Fordham Rh right now and its been a month and i already feel like its lacking. Can you please tell me about your experiences at hunter because im thinking of a trsnsfer to there possibly by next semester.

@Yazan9 Hi! I apologize for such a late response. I’ve kind of forgotten about CC since transferring; I was cleaning up my email and my old notifications. I am at Hunter and I’m about midway through my second semester here. I’m quite happy with the classes and the curriculum! My science classes have been well taught and fair. I also like that there are usually many lab times to choose from, because it allows for a more flexible schedule since many students, like myself, also work. The premed advisement here is very helpful and readily available. They’re also always emailing us about different internship opportunities and scholarships, which is a small detail that I appreciate greatly because it helped me land a research internship at a good hospital. These positives have been adding up during my time here and I’m overall extremely happy with my decision to transfer to Hunter.
One thing that is different is that higher level courses are a bit bigger than they would be at Fordham. My endocrinology class, for example, has 40 students in it. My orgo lab has 9 people in it, but my orgo lecture has around 75-80 people in it. I don’t feel like it hinders my ability in the class personally, but for people who prefer smaller classes, that could be something to consider. I know that some people prefer to be in smaller classes for upper level courses so this is one factor to consider.
Another thing to consider is how much you care about your core or elective classes. I definitely enjoyed my liberal arts electives and core a little bit more at Fordham. Philosophy, theology, and political science were wonderful at Fordham but I guess I am a bit biased because I feel that I had the best professors available for those classes. If that’s not a huge concern for you, then you won’t feel like you’re missing that at Hunter.
