If I only have 2 years of foreign language, would that be seen as a negative factor in college admissions? Our class registration started today, and I have a choice of dropping a core AP Class, (AP Phys or AP Chem or AP Calc) and taking Spanish 3, or take all the three AP's mentioned above and only satisfying two years of foreign language.

Because most colleges "recommend," not "require," three years of same foreign language, I am not sure if one extra AP class is worth it. And by the way, I am interested in taking all of the three AP courses above.

I'd drop Spanish III. It's not important. It won't really help you. You need to focus on core sujects like chem and calc that will really get you anywhere. At least that's how I see it.

I'm in the same situation chochocho! I'm going to take AP Phys, AP Chem and AP Chem as well next year (all of them...are you going to take all of those, or one of the three?)! Are you a Junior? I only have two years of French. :(

Cool! We should keep in touch. wink I'm gonna sign up for those muderous courses myself...what else are you taking? I'm taking AP English and since it's an A/B day thing...the other day is going to be a TA where I'll work in Journalism as the Editor for the Editorials section of the school newspaper. What are you taking right now?
I'm taking:
AP Bio
AP US Hist
AP Environmental
AP English 11
H. Calc

Oh, we're so similar haha.
I'll be a yearbook editor, and for right now my schedule is:

AP Chem
AP Phys
AP Calc
AP Literature
AP Gov/AP Econ
Draw and Paint (maybe AP Art History, but I lost interest in history this year after takigng both European and US History)

I can't play sports because of art! What a waste of class

This sucks, having 7 periods as a senior, but o well haha.
Fosho, feel free to im me: joechofosho

I'm having a similar dilemma too. For Junior year, I signed up for the following courses.
1) AP English Lang.
2) AP Calc. AB
3) AP Chem.
4) AP US History
5) Physics Honors
6) French III (H)
7) Gym - Strength and Conditioning

Right now, I usually do 3/4 of my homework in school (morning, lunch, math and french class), but I'm afraid that next year will leave me no time to do my homework in school (chem takes half my lunch, math class is out because I'll prob. have to pay attention in calc., and i'm probably getting this nazi for french next year, so french is also out). So, I thought that I might drop French and replace it with a study hall because it'll give me valuable time to do homework, and because I HATE FRENCH, IT'S SOOOOOOOOOOOOO BORING! So my question is, will taking only 2 years of french hurt me?

ACK I am sorry I cannot be much help to your answer, taegukgi, but I am posting here cause I have a dilemma along the same lines...

Ok. So I took Spanish I last year, am in Spanish II now (I'm a sophomore by the way), and I KNOW I am going to continue Spanish every year of high school (because they don't effing offer Latin gr)...sooo, in my school, you can get up to Spanish 5 if you took spanish I in 8th grade, but I didn't, so I was gonna take Spanish III over the Summer to move up and be able to take Spanish 5 AP senior year....but...my dad is throwing a fit about me working during the Summer, taking voice AND guitar lessons, and studying Physics to prepare for next year...so the question is...

Do I take Spanish 3 over the summer and eventually get to Spanish 5 AP, or just let it ride and only do 4 years of Spanish, and not get to the AP level?

I think you might be a bit overloaded over the summer. 4 years is excellent, and you can probably be prepared for the ap test at the end of the year, as well as the sat2.

Same situation as you guys, I dropped Spanish IV H for senior year. Dying in the class, I don't even know how I am going to get over this year with that stupid teacher of mine.

Hmm...so perhaps I'll just take it easy this Summer and focus on getting some Physics into my head on my own time, just reading some of the library textbooks, to prepare for next year...along with the voice and guitar lessons...oh yeah and that full time job from 8 am to 4:30 pm...woot woot fun stufffff....

So I guess no Spanish AP credit for me...but then again this is my first job this summer, and if it goes well and I handle it enough, I coulllld just take Spanish 4 over NEXT summer and THEN move up to Spanish 5 AP..psh in the words of Bob Dylan, time will tell, man.

The bad thing about me is that I move around sixteen times in my life, including several high schools. Depending on the state, foreign langauges often vary. For example, I have one semester of Latin, one semester of German, and two years of Spanish. What a dilemma.

Oh, and thx celeb for advice. I think i'll drop spanish.
