Foreign Language course for VSB students

Is it worth it to continue with a foreign language (4 years of honors high school Spanish) at VSB for a marketing major? This seems to be the only choice as far as course selection for incoming freshman VSB students. Or, is it better to skip the language altogether, thereby leaving room for other potentially more interesting courses?

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Can’t help with VSB programs , but as far as Spanish is concerned , Villanova Foreign language intro course is not rigorous.
Spanish Intro 1 & 2 is an easy A for students that took rigorous honors in HS.
If you have to take intermediate for your major , I would suggest trying to skip intro level. I would call to see if they offer placement testing.

I also have the same question how hard is intro spanish do many people in vsb do it?

I can’t say much with confidence since I’m not a student yet, but a friend of mine took the placement test (same situation, four years of Spanish, AP Spanish, subject-test, and AP test) and if the intro class is as difficult as the placement test, it doesn’t sound like it would be too hard. But again, not a student, second-hand knowledge.

"NOTE: You will not be granted credit for taking introductory courses (1111 or 1112) in a language that you took in high school for 2 years or more. Try to do your best on the on-line placement test! It is not beneficial for you to perform poorly since the test is only one of many factors that the Department will consider in order to place you in the correct language course! Thus, the Department reserves the right to place you into the appropriate courses based on a variety of data described above. "

Still not sure if it’s worth pursuing a language for business students, when there might be more interesting elective courses that could be taken instead.

wow that sucks haha ive take spanish for four years, so that means the intro course wont count as credit?? NO way im taking an upper level spanish course and screwing my GPA
