Foreign Language Credit

So I’ve been looking into a lot of university’s admission requirements and many of the “top” schools require/recommend 3+ years of a foreign language. The language I took is only offered for 2 years. Many students at my school take only 2 years of a language. The 3rd level of a language is only offered if there are interested students in registering for the 3rd level, which rarely ever happens. Should I worry??

Often times colleges will understand if it is not possible to meet requirements. For example, I applied to some schools that required fine arts, but I never took fine arts because my high school did not require them. I was still accepted. I would not worry about it. If you are worried you can always put it into one of those extra comments sections.

If you only have two years of foreign language you should ask your guidance counselor to mention in his/her letter than only two years of the language was offered in your HS. You could also research if it would be possible to take a third year of the language at a local college or even online.
