Foreign Language Placement Test on Sakai (can't log in)

Hi everyone,

I am an incoming freshman for this fall. Today I received an email from UNC Academic Advising telling me to take my foreign language placement test and look at First Year Seminars offered and then take a 5-15 minute survey by May 10.

I have my Onyen, but whenever I try to access Sakai (the site where my Spanish placement test is located), it won’t let me sign in with my Onyen and instead makes me sign in with a non-Onyen ID which then leads me to a basic template of Sakai with nothing on it.

Am I too early for the placement test? I thought it would be available (and Sakai would let me sign in) since UNC sent the email. Is it possibly because I don’t have the preferred Firefox (my Mac only has Safari and Google Chrome)?

Just wondering for anyone who remembers taking the placement test if this happened to them.

Thanks!

I’m glad to see I’m not the only one! I tried on Chrome and Microsoft Edge, and got the same page.

Same here - every browser I tried it on had the issue.

I emailed the tech support listed for the Spanish test, and he said that students who couldn’t access the test didn’t have Sakai clearance. He suggested doing the stuff on the first-year checklist, then waiting it out.
