3 years of foreign language?

The universities I want to go to either require or recommend 3 years of a foreign language. My question is, does what you take in middle school count? I took Spanish1 in middle school, then spanish 2 and 3 during my freshman and sophomore year. I'd die in ap spanish so I decided not to take it. Bad choice?

it depends if the class counts for hs credit

so it would vary by whatever high school you go to?

I think in most places the Spanish 1 in middle school counts as a credit... you might want to ask your counselor before you decide not to continue spanish just incase.

yea I have the same question, b/c I took up to Latin 3, Finishing Latin 1 in 8th grade (middle school), and finishing Soph Year in HS. Latin 1 was for HS credit though, its seen on my transcript. However, I think im going to take up French to be sure.

if you took it in 8th grade and it is on your hs record, itll count..

by hs record do you mean your transcript?

yeah, transcript, if its on there then its good

The more foreign language you take in high school the better it looks. I recommend taking at least 3 years of language in high school; four would be even better (switch languages if you have to, though it probably looks better if you can stick one out through AP).
