Foreign languages at Northeastern

Considering their international focus, I would've thought they'd have some good programs, but they didn't seem to have many options (only two language majors!). They don't even offer a minor in my language of choice, German. So can anyone speak to the strength of NU language offerings? Are the classes/professors good? Is the program strong?

i’ve personally not taken any of the classes but i’ve heard good things about the international affairs program. taking a language is built into the curriculum for that major. i don’t know any specifics though

All I can tell you is that the Arabic language program and ASL are very strong and that they do offer german clases.

I think they try and keep the language program centralized as students are all taking them for various reasons. With the global focus you need to teach International Business students to be fluent by the time they go to their country (European School of Business), teach kids before study abroad/dialogues, and teach kids who are just interested in a language.
