An active member of the JC Drama Club; performed in “A Midsummer Night’s Dream” by William Shakespeare and Ovidia Yu’s “Death on Cue” (Lead Actor) for public shows. Also, performed for many school events like National Day Celebrations, Open House etc. Won the Gold Award for the Singapore Youth Festival: Drama.</p>

<p>I am the Creative Head (Leader) for the Indian Cultural Society (ICS) of my school. I designed the college ICS T-shirt, won a silver award at the Singapore Youth Festival in the Cultural Dance Category. I was Audio-Video I/C for the National Tamil Drama Competition, for which I received best Lighting and Technical Crew. Also, performed (Dance) for the Mardi Gras Festival (2008)</p>

<p>Am in the college cricket team and played the 8-a-side and 11-a-side A division national tournaments. We won the 2nd runners up for the 11-a-side version of the game. Received the East Zone Colors Award for exceptional performance as a cricketer.</p>

<p>A Mazarin Leader for the school; Mazarin- a group (invitational; based on academic, EC performance, write-ups and interviews) which works for the benefit of the school and the community in general.</p>

<p>Taught in a “Free School”(Zero-fee schools for the impoverished children) in Haryana, India during the summer-break last year completing a total of 140 hours of service. (Doing 300 odd hours more this year)</p>

<p>Member of a non-government organization, Dhriiti (India) which works for the cause of the upliftment of the rural poor and disabled, giving them financial backing and expert-guidance to start a business and be self-employed and also helps them in fighting for their rights through petitions.</p>

<p>Led the “Shoes for a Cause” Project which aimed at collecting recyclable shoes to aggregate money for poor school children in Indonesia.</p>

<p>Participated in the Raffles’ Community Leaders’ Forum; an avenue where students are selected from various countries like Singapore, India, China, Cambodia, Vietnam, Myanmar, USA, UK etc. to come together and discuss various problems facing the world today and solutions that we as the youth have to offer.</p>

<p>I worked for 2 months last year with a media marketing company (won't name it here) and worked on the design of the current KFC marketing plan for Singapore (2008), contributing this year's Singapore version of the Brand Positioning (i.e. something similar to the "I'm loving it! for McDonalds"</p>

<p>Participated in the Go-Green Day for collecting recyclable wastes, the proceeds from which went to various Singaporean charity organizations.</p>

<p>Completed a short-term Diploma course in 2-D animation and Basic Cartooning.</p>

<p>Researched and completed a 300 page report on new energy technology for Changi Airport, Singapore; Copyright and Patent applied for the high-energy saving mechanism. Idea being used by the Airport in the near future (A huge project)</p>

<p>That's basically as good of a profile as anyone could hope for. Obviously it's going to be 10x harder for you since you're an International, but it still looks good for you.</p>

<p>that is a kickass resume. If you get rejected for these schools then the competition is even more rediculous than i thought.</p>

<p>You have some really good activities- get rid of the litter and you have a strong shot at HYPS.</p>

<p>However, ivy admits are quite arbitrary so there is NEVER a "am I in?" guarantee no matter how wonderful your stats are. Also, as an international, the competition pool is quite different and much more fierce- while your academic stats are superb and nearly flawless, don't count on that to leverage you because chances are, some Korean kid has the same/better stats. Your activities are really going to do you in or out and from my perspective, they look really good. </p>

<p>Also, I don't know why you want to be chanced at all the Ivies -- some are not going to suit you. Meanwhile there are other schools of comparable rigour out there. </p>

<p>You have an awesome resume, but please think of other schools, even if your parents are super-rich enough not to apply for financial aid. </p>

<p>Surely you aren't applying for the prestige?</p>

<p>Not quite -- international applications at other schools are quite disadvantaged too. Cast your net wide. :)</p>

<p>Your reply in of itself is a paradox. You can certainly seek to maintain your grades/test scores and enhance your activities but nothing can ward off the arbitrary factor as seen in top college admissions. Things like race, location, quota for student diversity,etc. are going to factor into your decision. The fact that you are Indian( despite being in Singapore) and an international weighs heavily against you. Despite that, you really do have some amazing achievements and if you can properly showcase it, then you certainly have a good shot. I would suggest applying to more schools to ward off the chance of complete rejection.</p>

<p>Well, if he were an Indian Singaporean holding SG citizenship or PR status, I would say otherwise, because I have known rather modest Singaporeans who I thought would never get into an Ivy (in a good way -- as in, we were childhood friends born without privilege who thought such schools were out of our reach -- I never thought I would be in my current position either) who got into highly selective institutions as an international student. They were certainly less award-studded than the OP.</p>

<p>ermm... actually, i'm an indian citizen... juz a student here in singapore... but... why exactly will being indian go against me...? too many indians applying, huh...? and will being an A-level taking, singapore school grad student ermm... make my chances better than indian directs (people studying in india, i mean...)... and about how much will getting a PR help...? (might consider) and yeah... lastly... could ya guys please chance me seperately for different univs and suggest some others for the courses i intend to take! thanks in advance... looking forward to prompt replies! thanks! :)</p>

<p>can u please list all the universities you are applying to? because evaluating for HYPSM is just going to be a REACH...random things happen, so we cant actually honestly give you a yes/no...
but obviously, u are a student of the 'accepted' calibre. Even then...it would just be easier.
But yeah, i would say REACH for HYPSM...especially since i know a lot of random decisions are made. People better than me have been rejected from these unis, whilst those not so impressive have sometimes been accepted.
u can just try ur best, and hope for the best.
For some reason, i can see you making Princeton and Yale, but not Stanford and MIT - its just my reflection from your application. As for harvard, i wouldnt have a clue mate. Sorry</p>

<p>The 'wouldnt know's are universities i did not research or apply to, hence giving you an evaluation would be an educated guess. The Reach universities are only so because all Ivy leagues are reaches. But of the ones that i marked 'reach', i think you should make Berkeley, Caltech, Cornell and Princeton (but this is gonna be hard).</p>
