Post on here if you do 4N6! And say what event you're in. :)

I am a retired Debate President. I did all debate events and some of the interps to try them out, but Congress was my best. I went to a few Nationals and did well. After four years, I’m done, but it was fun.

Wait what? Forensics where you live = Debate?

That’s like Speech Team and stuff, right? I was on Speech Team for like a month during sophomore year. I sucked, but I did somehow manage to win 6th place (out of 6 :p) for extemp at our first competition.

Yes! It’s called Forensics in Michigan! I’m in Limited Prep too - Broadcasting!

I’m a policy debater. I also did PoFo for one tournament.

What are these strange events? Congress? PoFo?

In MI, we have:
Broadcasting
Extemporaneous
Impromptu
Sales
Informative
Oratory
Dramatic Interpretation
Poetry
Prose
Storytelling
Duo
Multiple

Anyone have the same??

Where I lived, Forensics = Speech & Debate. Once they were separate teams, but had long since been combined under a Debate class once I came along.

Debate. It’s all under the National Forensics League.

I see. Our Debate & Forensics teams are completely separate. Apparently in our state Debate’s not legit so most of the kids who would’ve been inclined to do that do bcast, extemp, or impromptu

Do you operate under the National Forensics League? Or Catholic Forensics League? Or both? Or something different?

Technically National, I think. Definitely not Catholic. But we really never go to Nationals, even though our team’s really good. States is as big as it gets 'cause we’re mainly under MIFA (Michigan I–(don’t know-- Forensics Association)

congress, and some pf / ld.

You’ll know if you’re a part of the NFL if your school has a section on their website and you get “degrees” for earning points. And the CFL is mostly public schools, I’m not sure why it’s “Catholic.” My local league is under both.

I know, but we were gonna go to a Catholic tournament once and all the events were f***ed up. So definitely not. And we have a state-wide website for our scores (“tabs”).

Yeah, NFL and CFL rules differ. My local league was under both, so there was always a sense of ambiguity and doubt, haha.

I did Congress for four years. BSed the hell out of all my speeches this year. Came back with some ribbons and a gavel for best PO.

Wait, so you mean everyone doesn’t go up with no paper and make their speech up on the spot?

So many people have canned speeches they adjust to it the criteria. Hahahaha.

Yeah. My area’s powerhouse uses canned speeches, allegedly written by their coaching staff of lawyers.

Hahahaha. Lawyers? How do they have time to coach?
