Was so thrilled to be submitting the second app (to U of M) that DS and I somehow forgot to put down Eagle Scout under awards...he listed Scouts as an activity (the darn drop-down menu on their application doesn't let you customize the position held) and attached a more extensive activity sheet that lists Eagle there, but in the specific part that says "Honors and Awards" he had all academic stuff and forgot this major one. His grades and scores are very good (3.9/2340) but this is bugging me. Is it worth an e-mail to the school to say "oops--please add this on..." or is that overkill? Thanks.

Have your son send an email to the admissions office explaining what happened. Keep it short and to the point but make sure it's written and sent by your son. In addition, it's OK to send additional information via email throughout the year as more awards and accomplishments start rolling in.

my son sent in 2 additional awards (of significance only, would probably not list Sadie Hawkins King or student of the month in a subject) in FAX memos with his SSN as late as end of February.

cover sheet politely requested that the attached award be added to his file.

Personally, I don't 100% trust email because adcoms are of various ages, and travel a great deal or may assume a clerk will put hard copies in the files that are actually going to make it to the committee for discussion.

Ok, thanks much.
