I was just browsing Caltech's site today and saw that they require School and Birth date on the research paper or it might not be read. I realized that I didn't do this since my paper was in a scientific format (amsart in LaTeX). Should I email/call Caltech to tell them this and confirm that they have indeed processed my research paper.

Thanks.

Doing so would seem to have no potential downside, and might benefit you considerably if it made the difference between your paper being read and not read, so yeah by all means, call.

The Common App instructions say name and birthdate -- no mention of school. If it makes you feel any better, DS forgot to put his birthdate on each page, but we got an email three weeks ago indicating everything was in the office and all was well (and since there was a box to check if you're submitting a research paper, I assume they use data point as a cross-check to make sure they have the paper). If you have a common name, it might be worth it to contact the Admissions Office.

Yea, I also got a confirmation email from Caltech. Hehe, I don't think my name can get any more uncommon, but I will call them tomorrow to make sure.

Thanks.

I just emailed them and they said they got my paper. Thanks for the replies.
