Forgot Which Colleges I Sent My PSAT Scores To

Back in May, I got the letter from the national merit corporation telling me to go online and select two schools to send my scores to, since I was among the highest 50,000 scorers or whatever. However, I have since forgotten which two schools I sent them to haha. Any idea how I can find out where I sent them?

I suppose you could call the National Merit people. However, it really doesn’t matter. My son got that letter, and we called to get more information. We were told that sending it to two colleges just lets them know a bit early (ie before you apply there) that you are interested, and then they may send you further info about their school. The Ivies and other highly selective colleges don’t care a lot, because a high percentage of their applicants are NMF’s. If you find out in late August/early Sept that you are indeed a NM semifinalist, then you can put this on your CV/resume so that all of the schools you are applying to will know. Of course, you won’t know if you are a NM finalist until around February. So in short, their offer (given to all of the “high-scoring students”; not all of these make NMSF) to inform 2 colleges in July that you have done well is nice, but not that big of a deal. If you did well, then I’m sure you have already been indundated with information from colleges, as my son has.

I don’t think your actual scores were sent. I think those two schools were the two that were told that you have an interest in them.

I don’t think PSAT scores get sent to colleges.

In the big scheme of things, it means nothing, so don’t worry.

I also was notified of a minimum of commended status in the spring, and sent my “interest” to Princeton and Brown. However, since I’m sure Princeton and Brown received in excess of 10,000 “interested students,” I have no belief that these communications actually mean anything.
