Forgotten information

Hello everyone,
I realized today that there were a few EC related things that I forgot to mention on the Common App (Science Olympiad co-captain last year, stating that I had been participating in an EC since 5th grade to really convey the commitment, a few other smaller things). Can I update them with this information through the portal, or is that strictly for new things that have occurred since submitting the application?

Yes but I would wait a few weeks until your application and all the others have been downloaded and processed.

Though my moniker is 2018, I am a 1982 graduate, a current parent and an alumni interviewer. My advice in this case would be not to send updates for a “few small things”. The AdComs are not going to be able to weed through all that information and just think if every applicant sent in additional information. I am sure if you have applied to Yale you have a already impression record. Adding a few more things will not do much to tip the scales one way or another. Good luck!!

Well I forgot to put a leadership position that I held for science olympiad (don’t ask me how I did that :P), and one of the weaknesses of my application is a lack of leadership positions despite having several commitments for all four years of high school. I was thinking that anything like that could help @Tperry1982

If you feel that strongly about it, send it in. It can’t hurt I guess though it probably will not make a difference. The difference it will make to you though is that you won’t go through life thinking “what if” if you don’t get in. Do what’s best for your own peace of mind.
