Formal Apologies All Around

Mea maxima culpa for my comments about Wash U which were poorly stated and ill-considered. I regret my lack of sensitivity particularly because many shcools we are considering take their knocks as well. Particularly to Lizschup, who was so helpful to me when I traveled to St. Louis, I apologise.

I very much value all the information and opinions of the friendly and knowledgeable folks on this board.

I'm also sorry to be so late with this. We are on vacation, and if H sees he playing laptop I'm gonna get it!

ezduzzit: I didn't see anything ill-considered in your post. You were sharing your impressions, which are worth as much as anyone else's impressions. I agree that those type of threads have the potential to offend people who are fond of particular schools, but I think that if we all realize that schools will strike different people differently and allow for different tastes, they are helpful and informative. I know that some posters seem to look at things the way I do, and I enjoy knowing what they think. Shoot, I enjoy knowing what everyone thinks.

You know, after the whole brouhaha, I went back to try to figure out what might have been objectionable in the post by Ezduzzit, because I had read the whole thread and it went right by me. I agree with PattyKK. Not only do different people seek different things, but impressions can vary dramatically based on chance - weather that day, mood you (and your kid) are in, personality of tour guide and host, etc. That is one of the reasons that we have avoided the "8 schools in 4 days" trips, although I realize not everyone can do that.

Ezduzzit, it was kind of you to apologize and I do hope you have a nice vacation. I've always enjoyed your posts and will continue to look forward to them.
