The Master List of Acceptances is coming out soon and I was wondering what people on CC thought would be a good way to format it. Here is my idea and I was wondering what improvements/advice people had to it.

Personally, I don't like the list from 2010. There's too much junk on it. I don't see the point in saying "Applicant" before each decision. I love the way it was in 2009. It's easy to read, and there isn't too much stuff on it. I think that the Master List should look like this:

KEY:
* International Applicant
** Financial aid Applicant
*** International Financial aid Applicant

I think we should have a separate thread for where people matriculate, and their stats. Having it all on one thread would be too much. Each thread should IMO should be easy to read, and each applicant's space should only take up one or two lines.

This is just my opinion on how it should look. Any other ideas? Hopefully, this year the Master List will be the best yet!

I agree, and I think the key is a good idea. Keeps it simple and concise.
What do you guys think about this plan?

1) A list just on decisions and what ifax mentioned above.
2) A more complex decisions list with applicant stats, achievements, and EC’s:
It would be similar to Tom’s last year.

@kisskob: I think the rationale for keeping and adding to the existing decision/stats thread is so that a few years of results can be kept in one thread.

The 2011 thread could be simpler…just a way for current applicant class to see how others did at glance. Of course, that should get updated on April 11th with matriculation info.

What was great in Tomcats thread was to compare the stats to the results. Are you sure you dont want to put some stats?
I suggest: ssat, state/country,FA and hook.

yeah i think we should add on to TomtheCat’s clean thread of stats and results so future applicants can look back onto it.
but we should also make new 2011 matriculation/acceptance thread that minimally says where the user got accepted/rejected/waitlisted.

I understand why having many years of stats in the same thread would be good, but adding on to Tom’s thread imo just isn’t good for cataloging/organizational purposes, because the thread’s title has an outdated date on it…many people wouldn’t know to look in it the the 2011 Applicant Stat info. Besides we can’t keep adding on to it forever, can we?

Adding onto it makes sense, but it’s a new year, perhaps a fresh slate would be better.

I think a new thread should be made because it will be much neater.
Hopeful students can always search for the 2010 stats, or in one of the first few posts of the 2011 thread, a link to the 2010 thread can be posted.

I agree with having a new thread… just curious, if we take away all the stats, then what’s the purpose? I’m not down on the idea, I was just wondering if people use it to contact their potential new classmates or what.

@urbangirl: I see the statless list as more of a March 10-11, quick scan “oh, good for [insert name of student/child of posting parent]!” thing so we can see where people were admitted at a glance.

The stat-heavy one is good for future applicants…so people can see “I have stats similar to candidatex, so maybe I’d have a similar chance to get into the schools he/she got into.” By scanning that thread, I think someone would have a much better picture of their relative chances than by posting anything in the “Chance Me” section.

Oh I understand. I suppose CC is a community and people want to know if people they were rooting for got in. Well I wish the best to everyone! Two weeks away!
