*** Group Discussion: Formatting for 2011 Decision Threads

Hi guys, this is just a place we can discuss how we're going to work out the 2 decision threads (one just for decisions, two for decisions and stats) in an organized way.

So far we need to determine:

Exactly what info is going into each thread;
Who is making each thread;

And perhaps later on, organize boards for the individual schools (meet your potential classmates) people may be attending next year.

Who has ideas? : D

Last year's are at:

PLEASE DON’T BE AFRAID TO DISCUSS YOUR OWN IDEAS OR DISAGREE WITH ANYONE’S PRESENTED HERE. :slight_smile: It’s for all of us, after all…
(By the way, good luck to everyone! I know you’re all as nervous as I am)

Also, please see ifax’s thread here and comment on his ideas.

I think Acceptance, Waitlist, and Rejection should be changed to simply:
A: W: R:

As for thread #2, perhaps some slight changes/ additions

Stats:

* SSAT/ISEE/TOEFL/PSAT:

  • GPA Unweighted-Weighted:

Location/Person:

* State or Country:

General Comments:

First off, I agree with your idea to change accepted to “A.” It makes the list look neater. And I really like the idea of organizing boards that show where all the applicants are going. We could have one for each individual school, and one general one that tells where applicants are going. We could call it “Master List of 2011 Matriculations.” The format would be as follows:

Key

  • International Applicant
    ** Financial aid Applicant
    *** International Financial aid Appliacnt
    A: Accepted
    W: Waitlisted
    R: Rejected
    M: Matriculating

abc123: A: Andover, Deerfield, Hotckiss W: SPS D: Exeter M: Andover '15
*bcd234: A: Exeter, NMH W: Andover, Middlesex, Groton, SPS R: Choate M: Exeter '15
**cde345 A: KUA, Vermont Academy W: Loomis, Kent R: Deerfield M: KUA '15

My only change to your idea for thread #2 is instead adding a section for FA and being international. Other factors I think should be only for things like, “My father donated a building” or “I’ve been blind since a horrible accident.” Aside from that, I like the format for thread #2.

So, we have the Master List of 2011 Acceptances, Post your Stats for Future Applicants, and the Master List of 2011 Matriculations (don’t have to worry about this one for a while) and possibly some ones specifically for each school.

I suggest that we change the title for second list to Master List of 2011 Applicant Stats.

Nice ideas, ifax, I’ll add them on.
And for matriculation, everyone could post where they think they might be going I guess, since for a lot of people it’s undecided at that point.

Dakshina:
Hmmm I like your idea of keeping all three pages consistent, though the original title is more eye catching.
Maybe ‘Master List of 2011 Applicant Profiles’ instead, since it’s not only stats.

Bump! 10charrr
