Hi,
I applied in early November for the major business administration. Got into "UW" about three weeks later. I believe that means that I got into the arts + sci. school and not the business school, as that is separate. Is there anyone out there that could provide some clarification on this please? When do they usually get back to business applicants. Because the welcome packet I just recieved in the mail said my school was arts + sci and not the Foster school of business. Thanks for the help

My friend got into the Foster School of Business as a freshman. He got into A&S when he got his welcome packet, and got another letter from FSoB mid-March(?) I’m not completely sure. However, you automatically get into A&S I believe. It’s probably too early for them to say you got into the Foster School of Business. I got into A&S (Intended Biology) but also applied for Computer Science Engineering, something like that. I talked to the admissions people and they haven’t even looked at my app for my comp sci major, but I’ve gotten into UW and Honors. I’d say to just hang out for a while and not worry about it. If you’re super concerned though, send an email or call the school to confirm they got your application.

thank you very much

no problem! good luck! I hear that although they accept a good number of applicants, it’s still one of the most coveted majors.

Got my Foster Freshman Direct letter! Even though UW is my safety, it’s nice knowing my path is all locked up ;)

congrats avgasian. just wondering - did your unofficial transcript change to reflect the business major?

I don’t think so…I just filled out my classes normally but selected the BA major.

AvgAsian: Do you know that you can see your unofficial transcript after being admitted to UW? Here is the link:
https://sdb.admin.washington.edu/students/uwnetid/unofficial.asp

First the student has to be admitted to UW and then Foster decides who among those who put BA as a major will get accepted as a direct admit. So the unofficial transcript will usually show Arts and Science as the College and pre-Major (A&S) as the major when the student is first admitted. I was wondering if the unofficial transcript changes to reflect Foster as the college and BA as the major if and when you are accepted into Foster.

Would you mind checking what your college and major show on your unofficial transcript now?

The unofficial transcript will switch from A&S to Business like a week after they send you your letter. Mine was dated Feb. 12.

oh, mine is a little different since I’m taking a UW class as a high school student (extension program)

Major: Non matriculated

College: Interdisciplinary Undergrad Prog

About how many students are actually admitted into the freshman direct program in total? Like 200? …

^and how many actually applied? just curious.

got my acceptance letter a week ago. dated feb 12 as well

[University of Washington: Undergraduate Profile ? BusinessWeek](<a href=“Bloomberg - Are you a robot?”>Bloomberg - Are you a robot?)

41% acceptance rate of 2572 applications. 78% yield.

Has anybody else heard from Foster? Also wondering if they had an online chat this month like they had in Jan and Feb?

Why doesn’t Foster have its own placement office. Going through the university office is not good for business students IMHO. Id there a business placement report showing who recruits there and placement data for undergrads business majors?

Just got my Foster Freshman Direct letter today =)
Definitely a big compensation for my epic rejection from UCLA few hours ago ;(

Haha I was also epicly rejected from UCLA! my dad was filming it and everything! And i also applied for a BA major but have not gotten a Foster Freshman Direct letter yet. Do only a certain number of BA applicants get that or do all students admitted who applied to Foster get it?

Still waiting/hoping for Foster. I wonder if they are done with acceptances, though…

Hmm, I think they are pretty much done with acceptances since all the admitted Foster students were invited to this “invest your future” seminar thing today. The speaker mentioned only 20% of all BA applicants get accepted as freshmen. Don’t lose hope though, everyone still has the opportunity to gain admission to Foster after their first/second year at UW, although the application procedure is generally a little unpleasant…and there are plenty of ways to familiarize yourself with the business field outside of Foster. Remember to look ahead everyone =)
