Hi I was accepted into Freshman Direct for Foster School of Business and am just looking to find other people who have also been admitted (:
I received the acceptance email yesterday! Very excited, and congratulations to you, soundersgirl13!
I was also accepted!! Do you know when we find out if we received any freshmen direct scholarships? I applied for those a while ago.
Does your Unofficial Transcript say “Business Administration” or “Pre-Business Administration” for your major?
Mine says “Business Administration” but did not receive an email yet.
@HuskyFan17 Congrats to you too! I can’t wait to meet you and @emmysss (: And I think that the scholarship info comes with our welcome packet!
@globby My online transcript is weird because I have classes at UW from College in the High School so mine says like interdisciplinary something but if yours says Business Admin that’s a good sign! Did you check your junk mail or spam folder?
Congrats! Are anyone of you international?
Unfortunately, I did not get accepted for a direct admit to Foster, it says “You’ll join the UW community as a pre-major in the College of Arts and Sciences, affording you the flexibility to explore academic options in your first year and take prerequisites to apply to Foster after two years at the UW. The majority of students admitted to the Foster School do so at the end of their sophomore year.”
Does it mean that I need to take some courses before applying to Foster? I don’t really understand
Hi @tahfoun that’s awesome you are an international student! I am an in-state student. I think you get to participate in the case studies and a lot of the extra curiculars but I think it means you just take general education courses but then apply to Foster at the end of sophomore year!
I got directly admitted as well!!! I’m just hoping for financial aid to afford it because I’m from out of state Hopefully I can attend and met you fellow direct admits!.
So uuh I can’t apply to Foster at the end of my Freshmen year? @soundersgirl13
@tahfoun we’re in the same boat :-/ but yeah you apply during your sophomore year for either the winter or fall quarters. When I went on the tour, they told the there isn’t a huuuuuge difference between getting DA or applying later. DA gets to start their business classes just a little but earlier, but not by much. We just have to take requisites (as do all the DA people) and apply later, when the acceptance rate is 40-50% (though I heard that this may be the last year for freshman direct which means it will be less competitive for us!)
Basically, we can’t use some Foster resources, like the career center, or compete in certain case competitions. And we have to worry about getting in later… Stressful, but I am determined to make it in!
Mmm okay thanks @GabiWasabi ! Can you tell me which are these requisites ?And so, what courses should we take this fall? (Unfortunately I can’t neither visit the campus nor going to the “day” for admitted students , because I’m international and I’m like 15 hours-flight away from Seattle huuh)
@tahfoun it’s under “application requirements”

I hope to meet you too @CAClassof2019 Did you get a chance to fill out the scholarships?
Okay great, thanks @GabiWasabi
@tahfoun Hey I’m international too and I’m so stressed out over the fact that I didn’t get DA! Zzz… What if I can’t get in through RA either T.T
@GabiWasabi Really? I really do hope that it’ll be the last year for DA so that it’ll be easier haha! Only 40-50% are admitted? Gah! That’s so competitve!
@hungryapple well, it will be a new challenge for us hehe! And also, the courses that we need to take are really interesting so I don’t think it would be a bad thing; and after all, we’re going to Udub next fall
@hungryapple haha it’s pretty crazy, but I decided that I’m only going to college once, so I better go to my dream school and give it a shot! But I do have two friends who are Freshmen right now, they had DA to Foster’s last year. They told me that apparently they’re stopping DA for Freshmen to make it less competitive for UW students. They almost didn’t have DA for our class, and there is a very strong chance they’ll stop it next year or the year after that- all good news for us non-DA UW students
On a side note, are you going to the Arts A&O or the Business one? (and @tahfoun ) because I am set on business, but I don’t know if that A&O is just for DA students or everyone.
Huum I’m sorry but I didn’t understand you @GabiWasabi ; what do you mean by “Arts A&O”?
@tahfoun Haha that’s a very good way to look at it. Well then,(also @GabiWasabi ) guess we get work hard to get in together!!! See you guys in fall!
@GabiWasabi Yea, what’s Arts A&O?
@tahfoun @hungryapple “Advising and Orientation”
