Foundation Fellows

Acadumics, vig180 - What are your stats, ECs, etc. like?

(By the way, still no positive/negative mail for me.)

Well I emailed them earlier and just got a reponse.

"While some letters have gone out, we are working to have all
invites and decisions out by the end of the week. "

Plus, most things take close to a week (at least) to make it to my house from UGA (i.e. acceptance, etc.) So, maybe they just haven't gone out yet or something. There might still be a sliver or two of hope.

1570 (800V, 770 M)
800 WH, 800 US H, 770 Bio (M), 800 Writing
5/413, 4.15 (UGA Weighting style)

TN Gov's School for Int'l Studies w/awards
Award for Top Social Studies student at my school.
Quizbowl for 3 years with individual and team awards
Lots of Model UN stuff
A good deal of French awards
Some random tutoring

One other person from my school got it...same number as last year. Those two finalists from last year both got the Fellowship too, so we're hoping history repeats itself.

Nice vig180. Congratulations. . .you say UGA weighting style, how is that done? I haven't received anything, and I suspect I won't. I read the average SAT was around a 1530, but ah well. Worth a shot.

UGA uses the typical 4.0 scale except that it weights AP and IB classes an extra .5 of a quality point. I don't believe any other classes receive this weight.

ah ok. Well, got my "rejection" letter today for Foundation/Ramsey scholarship. I'm not surprised, and I am still happy, as they selected me for the Charter Scholarship for 1k per year.

Same here neobez. I wish I'd submitted a resume; I realized too late that there was so much stuff I left off my app =</p>

so you guys are getting letters now, huh? So if we hadn't been called, I guess we are rejectees.

Didn't get the FF, but I got the Charter, which is great since I live in NC...just gotta see how much UNC will give me.

AmericanDreamer, Congrats on ur UNC acceptance, My son also was accepted, but has not as yet heard from FF/BR. if you don't mind what are ur stats? Which school are u leaning towards. I think they are both great schools, and I think my son would thrive and be happy at both.

vig with those stats, why did you go to UGA?

2sonmom, I got a 1450 on the SAT and I have a 4.75 weighted GPA (3.8 unweighted) I'm twelfth in my class of 391. I'm leaning toward UNC just because it's closer to home, but I will probably visit both schools one more time before I make my final decision. They are both EXCELLENT schools with great spirit and a beautiful campus. Good luck!

Americandreamer, best of luck on your final decision... One more question, have you heard anything from the UGA Honors Program?

I actually haven't submitted the application yet, but I will this week. The applications were sent out a couple of days before Christmas. And thanks.

ryan228, UGA's not a done deal by any means. But the reason I'm interested in UGA is because the FF program is not the typical UGA experience. The FF program is easily on the level of the Ivy schools except with a much more laid-back environment and personal attention that helps get graduate fellowships, more access to research oppertunities and study abroad that you can't get anywhere else.
