Four years of math required?

I read the academic requirements for admission and four years of math is required. Is this requirement written in stone for a prospective MT student? My S is currently a HS Junior, and while a competent math student, I would guess he would prefer to be done with mathematics after this year. He is a band and choir student and would enjoy the opportunity to take an elective in his Senior year in the slot previously held by a math course.

Read the answer in an older post. Four years of math is required.

Welllllll. Not really four years of math in high school. This is where these things get a bit odd. What you need is Algebra I, geometry, Algebra II, and any higher level math course. So, statistics would count. Some schools do each of these in semester systems. In fact, South Carolina does Algebra II and III in semester long classes. My son is a sophomore in the SC system and will have completed these math requirements at the end of this semester. So, four YEARS may not be correct. I’d encourage application, or at least a chat with admissions regarding this is there are any questions. Or PM me with what he has taken and I’ll be more than happy to speak with admissions.

My son attends High School in a small town in Maine (small by CC standards), and Statistics is not offered. My son agreed to taking Pre-Cal next year if need be. Thank you for the offer of assistance!
