FRAP Program

Has anyone been accepted into the FRAP yet or do you know anyone who has? If you don't know, the FRAP progam accepts a certain number of freshman into the Business School instead of having them wait until they are a junior. Also I would really appreciate if you listed your stats if you were admitted in. Thanks.

Umm... One more question. So when you get your acceptance package thing does it say what school you got into and what your status is (Freshman, sophomore, ect...)?

Hey, dude, I really want to get into the FRAP, but I haven't heard anything from anyone so I'm not sure how the process goes to being invited. When I got my acceptance package I don't remember it saying anything about what school I got into, but I'm pretty sure that it said my was status was "freshman." If you have any more information about the FRAP program please post them because I would love to learn more about it. Thanks!

For Computer Engineering this is what one of their advisors said to me in an e-mail. I would bet it would be similar for any other Direct Admission program as a Freshman into a specific College.

"The department begins the CSE Direct Admission review process during winter quarter (January), and we hope to make decisions by the end of March. This is a separate process from UW general admissions. If you are admitted directly into CSE, then we will notify you - separately from your UW
admission notification - sometime in March."

hey thanks dopke for the info.. i hope that the CSE Direct Admission is similar to FRAP because i really have no idea how admission works for the freshman business program

So I talked to some people and one of my friends was admitted into the FRAP progam last year. He had no idea on how the select people in but he heard late February that he was accepted into FRAP. This was seperate from acceptance into the University. That's all I know so far.

Ok, thanks for the info. I also know someone who got admitted into FRAP last year so I'll try to get ahold of her and see what she knows. I'll make sure to pass any info along to you guys.

I had been wondering about the freshmen business program, so thanks for the helpful info, BrettGrannemann, Dopke, and rovee! Does anyone know the criteria for admission?

haha... very competitive for business and cse, you should look on business school site for UW, and click on "prospective students" and there SHOULD be info there- atleats for the CSE page there is.

wow, i just got my invitation in the mail today so i'm pretty stoked. the letter was dated February 14 and it says that they chose the top 5% of all the applicants who put "business" down as a possible major. good luck to everybody who's still waiting to hear something!

oh wow. congrats. i think i remember you had great stats though.

anybody else get accepted? i didnt get anything in the mail yet :T and geez, top 5%? i wonder what the stats were for the top 5%...

invitation meaning you were accepted?! if so, nice job. yeah you had good stats I Remember cause you qualified for one of their elusive scholarships. :P

So, wait, do they tell you if you did not get accepted? because nobody really APPLIES - you just check a box if you are interested.

and judging from what rovee said, i think they already decided who was invited.

i don't remember checking a box if i was interested. i just put Business Administration down as my major so if you guys did that then you've automatically been reviewed. i read somewhere that 32 FRAP students enrolled in 2003, but i don't know how many were invited. my friend who does FRAP now says that there are about 25 people in her group.

yeah my bad... not a box, but didnt you have to choose "yes" to "already applied" or something?

i don't think i had to choose "yes" or anything like that... all i did was fill out the uw application and put bus.adm. down for my major, or at least, that's what i think i did.

yeah, for computer engineering also, if you just marked CSE as your possible major on your application, you were automatically considered.

Yeah, I got accepted into this FRAP thing, but had no clue what it was beforehand. I wasn't even aware it existed until I got my notice. I've been to the website and checked it out, but I'm not sure I understand it that well. If anybody knows anyone who's currently in it who'd be willing to share a few details, I'd be delighted to hear about them.

Two of my friends got invited to this. The orientation thing was last thursday I believe.

They have similar stats... 3.9+ gpas, 1990 SAT for both of them.

One of them is going to be my roommate next year hopefully.

Thanks for the info. I definately appreciate it.
