Frat reputations at Penn?

I saw someone did this for sororities. I'm interested in rushing and would like to know how the community views individual frats.

steer clear of Beta. they’re in some troubbbbbble as of late.

The biggest party frats are Pi Kapp, SAE, Sig EP, and Sammy
Beta is trouble (too many rapes >_>) like the previous poster said
Some of the “average” frats (in terms of partying) are Skulls and AXP
Lambda Chi Alpha and Kappa Alpha are examples of low-key frats that don’t focus as much on partying

Actually I’m gonna call shenanigans on this… specifically with regard to KA parties. Two years ago they had late nights every Thursday, and they still have parties on a relatively regular basis, though not quite as often as when they were in their dilapidated Locust house.

I’m personally a huge fan on Pi Kapp and Sammy! =) Great parties!

I’m a brother of Delta Upsilon, and while we’re definitely one of the more low-key fraternities on campus, we’re one of the most tight-knit. We’re also the only fraternity on campus that’s committed to no secrets and no hazing. If you want some more information, check us out at [Delta Upsilon University of Pennsylvania Chapter](http://www.dupennsylvania.com).

My son just got rejected from the frat he hoped to join and is devastated. Not sure he’ll stay at Penn. Can’t seem to find a fun non_Greek party scene. Any thoughts?

As far as I know, the party scene revolves almost entirely around frats. Though even if you’re not in a frat, you can still go to their parties. Also, a lot of frats have rush in the fall, so there’s still a chance he could end up getting a bid somewhere

I think if you’re looking at the best party frats then it would have to be Pi Kapp, Pike, Beta, SAE, AEPi and Oz. SigEp is def not a huge party frat, but they do throw something every Thursday night i think. I am personally a fan of Pike since their house is great, esp the Pike basement.

Any group that does major events (for example performances) has a party afterward, and many groups, especially performing arts groups, throw random parties throughout the year. Parties don’t revolve exclusively around fraternities!

hah this is a joke, first off let me say that the rape scandal is something that is brought up by other fraternities to bring beta down - theyre cool guys and the girl dropped the charges because they were completly untrue - in terms of attracting the hottest girls - the offcampus frats are generally the best - OZ, THEOS and OWLS

I love how Castle was completely forgotten here- they definitely have the best parties on campus, but very exclusive so not everyone gets to get a sense of it. However, it’s fine if you’re at Penn and you don’t go Greek: more than 70% of the undergrads are not involved with Greek life and they still enjoy their Penn experience and party a lot!

Do not join a frat. Until the Greek system learns to “self regulate”, all frat boys will be viewed as animals and thugs. Right or wrong, near affiliation makes you complicit.
